Redick To Plead Guilty To Drunken Driving Charges

According to court records, former Duke guard and current member of the Orlando Magic, J.J. Redick, intends to plead guilty to drunken driving charges.

The lawyer representing Redick, Donald Beskind of Raleigh, said in a letter to District Attorney Mike Nifong that the former Duke basketball star would plead guilty to charges of driving while impaired and unlawful use of the highways, The Herald-Sun of Durham reported Wednesday.

Redick Court Appearance Delayed Until Oct.

J.J. Redick's court appearance to face drunken driving charges was delayed Tuesday until Oct. 24.

Redick, a former Duke star and first-round draft pick of the Orlando Magic, was also charged with unlawful use of highways for making an illegal U-turn, police said.

Redick was arrested after 1 a.m. on June 13 when he turned around as he approached a license check point near the Duke campus.

Johnny Davis Joins Carlisle In Indiana

Johnny Davis, former Magic head coach has joined Rick Carlisle's staff with the Indiana Pacers. Davis was with the Minnesota Timberwolves last season, but he was replaced by Randy Wittman, who left Orlando in order to return to Minnesota.

Wittman is the leading candidate to replace Dwane Casey if the Wolves falter out of the gate.
