Howard Becomes Fastest Player To 5,000 Rebounds

Magic center Dwight Howard grabbed 18 rebounds on Monday night, making him the youngest player in NBA history to record 5,000 career rebounds.

Dwight Howard, who became the youngest player in NBA history to grab 5,000 rebounds, starred with 22 points and 18 boards, Rashard Lewis posted 21 points on 8-for-12 shooting, and Hedo Turkoglu added 16 points and 5 assists. Orlando shot 50% from the floor and outrebounded Miami by eight at American Airlines Arena. Dwyane Wade led with 42 points, Jermaine O’Neal tallied 10 points and 7 rebounds, and Mario Chalmers contributed 13 points and 7 assists in the loss.

Milwaukee held New Jersey to 37% shooting, including a dismal 3-for-16 from three-point land. Utah hit 55% of their shots, and the two teams combined to turn the ball over 39 times at Energy Solutions Arena. Al Harrington led with 24 points, David Lee tallied 21 points and 9 rebounds, and Wilson Chandler turned in 14 points and 7 boards in defeat.

Memphis turned the ball over 20 times, but shot 50% from the field. Monta Ellis starred with 29 points and 5 assists, Anthony Randolph posted 8 points and 12 rebounds, and Jamal Crawford chipped in 26 points, 5 boards and 4 dimes for the Warriors.

Van Gundy: NBA Is Much Better Than NCAA

Magic coach Stan Van Gundy might be biased, but he recently told the Boston Globe why he feels as though the NBA is far superior to the NCAA.

"Clearly, I don't think [college basketball] is better. You'll see more good plays, great plays by players, in one NBA game than you will in the entire March Madness. That's me. It's not any knock on anything. These are the best players in the world going out every night," Van Gundy said.
