Blazers’ Anderson Hospitalized With A Sinus Infection

Derek Anderson has been hospitalized with a sinus infection related to his double root canal surgery performed last week. Anderson will see an oral surgeon today and may require another surgery.

Guard Nick Van Exel did not practice Sunday as he is suffering from flu symptoms.

Miles Suspended For Two Games

Trail Blazers forward Darius Miles was suspended by the team for two games Friday after a verbal clash with coach Maurice Cheeks during a film session.

The Blazers suspended Miles for conduct detrimental to the team and insubordination. The Blazers were preparing for Friday night's home game against the Clippers when the punishment was handed down.

"I am disappointed that we've had this distraction to deal with today," Blazers president Steve Patterson said in a statement. "We expect a certain behavior from everyone in our organization, and what happened yesterday is not acceptable behavior."

Portland’s Qyntel Woods To Plead Guilty To Dogfighting Charges

Suspended Portland Trail Blazers forward Qyntel Woods will plead guilty today to misdemeanor animal abuse and be sentenced to probation, according to sources close to the case.

On Oct. 11 investigators seized evidence “consistent of dogfighting” from Mr. Woods’ Lake Oswego home.

It is not sure how the misdemeanor conviction will affect Woods’ status with the team.

"This process has been long and frustrating for everyone involved and we are hopeful for a resolution," Blazers President Steve Patterson said in a statement.
