Grant Announces Retirement

After 12 NBA seasons, spent with the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns, Brian Grant announced his retirement on Friday due to chronic knee problems.

"I just decided it was time to hang it up. I really wasn't able to perform over the past few years like I was the first 10 years," he said. "It was time.

"For 12 years -- really 16 years -- you've been on a schedule where you know what's going to happen every day for the next seven months," said the 34-year-old Grant. "Now I wonder what I'm going to do the next day. So that's an adjustment."

Magloire Not Sure Where He Fits In

Jamaal Magloire is in a contract season, but he is on his third team in three seasons and will likely be part of the Blazers' second unit.

"I'm uncertain at this point where I fit in, but I definitely see myself fitting into this team," Magloire said. "Coach has given me opportunities, and I guess once the season starts and the rotation is set, we will find out (where I fit in)."
