Mayor throws in towel on arena vote

"Convinced the Sacramento City Council lacks support from the public and the owners of the Kings for a downtown arena, Mayor Heather Fargo conceded Friday that a March public advisory vote about its financing is doomed."

Webber, Richardson likely to be suspended

It looks Sacramento Kings forward Chris Webber and Golden State Warriors guard Jason Richardson will likely be suspended for the start of their respective seasons.

NBA deputy commissioner Russ Granik did not go into specifics during a Monday conference call.

"Having been convicted or having pled guilty, it is likely that Mr. Richardson and Mr. Webber will be suspended at the start of the season," Granik said.

Divac's ankle sprain is 'as bad as I've ever had'

On Thursday during Sacramento's 88-72 preseason loss to the Houston Rockets, Vlade Divac had to leave the game with 1:47 left in the first quarter with a sprained ankle.

Luckily, X-rays were negative but only two hours afterwards, his right ankle was badly swollen.

"Hey," Divac offered, looking at his baseball-sized knot, "It's baseball season! I was running, and I stepped on somebody's foot. It's really hurting. It's as bad as I've ever had. I guess it's better to have it now than during the season or the playoffs."
