Webber Loses In Return To Sacramento

Chris Webber received his anticipated raucous ovation from the Sacramento fans, and he seemed genuinely touched – even somewhat embarrassed. His happiness at being back in Arco Arena was evident. It must have been quite the rush when he drilled his first jumper.

But then, darn… the adrenaline wore off. After a 4 for 5 first quarter, he landed with a thud in the second, going just 1 for 9. His final numbers were a respectable 20 points and 10 rebounds, but he made just 8 of 26 -- a rather unremarkable return.

C-Webb has had to adjust to getting “waved off” by Allen Iverson, something that will undoubtedly happen frequently. However, his comfort level is improving, and the Sixers had won 9 of 14 with Chris.

But… “not in OUR house”! No way.

Those former 76ers made sure of it. Skinner grabbed 19 rebounds, scored 14 points and blocked a few shots. Thomas had 20 points and 15 boards. Both had 4 assists in the 118-109 win.

They heard about the parade, and assumed it was in their honor. Corliss Williamson missed it because of some headaches. Oh well.

Cuttino Mobley and Peja Stojakovic fell in step with 30 and 26, respectively. Stojakovic seems to have discovered his sweet stroke the last 3 games, averaging just under thirty, while shooting about 60%.

On the other hand, Mike Bibby has suddenly hit the dregs the past nine games, shooting only about 35%. He managed some clutch baskets in the 4th quarter, however. All those minutes may be having an effect.

Nuggets Improve To 21-5 In The Karl Era

With the Nuggets 113-99 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday, they improved to a 21-5 record since George Karl became head coach.

Carmelo Anthony scored 28 points for Denver.

``We're better, a lot better,'' said Nuggets point guard Andre Miller, who had 18 points and 10 assists.

``We're not improving as fast as we did the first two weeks when I got here,'' said Denver coach George Karl, 17-25 when he replaced Michael Cooper as coach. ``But we are still making improvements each game.''

``I don't have to take or make shots like I had to last year when I had to carry this team on my back,'' Anthony said. ``This year I have help from Earl and others and I can take what the defense gives me.''

Peja Hits Six 3-Pointers In Sac-Town Win Over Dallas

Peja Stojakovic hit six 3-pointers as he finished with a season-high 38 points, and the Kings avoided a regular-season sweep by Dallas with a 109-101 victory Thursday night.

``The basket felt like a swimming pool,'' Stojakovic said. ``I know I've been inconsistent lately, but you just have to keep playing through it. I was just being aggressive from the first minute. ... I know I was struggling, but I couldn't sit home and cry. I had to play and get back in shape.''

``He just looked so much like the Peja of last year tonight,'' Rick Adelman said. ``He wasn't just standing out there. He was pursuing the ball. It was great to see.''

Dirk Nowitzki had another impressive night, scoring 35 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.
