Kings' Artest Has Surgery To Repair Thumb Ligament

Kings' forward Ron Artest underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb on Thursday, the Associated Press is reporting.

Artest could return to playing basketball in eight to 10 weeks, giving him plenty of time to recover before training camp.

Theus Wants Artest Back In Sacramento

Kings head coach Reggie Theus said recently that he wants Ron Artest back with the team next season, according to the Sacramento Bee.

"When you look at the good teams in the league, every good team has somebody they can throw the ball to," Theus said. "Down the stretch of games, what people don't really understand is that teams are throwing the ball to (Houston's) Tracy McGrady and letting him decide and figure out what's going on. They're throwing the ball to (the Los Angeles Lakers') Kobe (Bryant). They're throwing the ball to (Dallas') Dirk Nowitzki. They're throwing the ball to their best player and letting that guy get the double team and (play) out of it."

"Outside of Ron Artest, we don't have anyone you can throw the ball to...without that guy, we're going to have to start figuring out where we're going to throw the ball," added Theus.

Kings' Miller Scheduled For Elbow Surgery

Kings' center Brad Miller is scheduled to have surgery on Friday to remove bone chips from his right elbow, according to the Sacramento Bee.

"I fell on the elbow after the Miami game (March 2)," Miller said. "They are just going in to clean it up," he added.

Miller has started all 72 games he played for Sacramento this season.
