Manu Is Questionable For Opener

Manu Ginobili is "somewhere between questionable to probable" for the Spurs' season opener Tuesday, coach Gregg Popovich told the San Antonio Express-News.

Ginobli suffered a right quadriceps bruise in practice on Saturday and missed practice Sunday because of the pain.

"He got whacked pretty good," Popovich told the paper. "We'll see how he is [Tuesday]."

Spurs Waive Three

The Spurs announced that they have waived guards Stephen Graham, Melvin Sanders and forward Sharrod Ford.

Graham appeared in seven preseason games where he averaged 5.4 points and 1.7 rebounds.

Sanders averaged 6.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in seven preseason contests.

Ford appeared in all eight Spurs preseason games and averaged 4.9 points and 2.5 rebounds.

The Spurs roster now stands at 13.

Spurs Are Preseason Pick In GM Championship Poll

The San Antonio Spurs are the preseason favorites to win the 2005-2006 NBA championship according to an NBA.com survey of the league's general managers.

The Spurs received 77 percent of the vote among the approximately 25 GMs who responded. That percentage is the highest a team has received in the four years the survey has been conducted. The defending champions got 96 percent of the vote to win the Western Conference and 100 percent to win the Southwest Division.
