Spurs Waiting For Maggette To Make Decision

The Spurs are awaiting the next move of free agent forward Corey Maggette as they remain the favorites to land him for the $5.8 million midlevel exception, according to The San Antonio Express-News.

They would prefer to know where Maggette will end up, especially if it's in San Antonio, before targeting other players and negotiating with their own.

However, Corey has drawn interest from Boston, Utah, Orlando, Detroit, Cleveland, and New Orleans. In addition, Philadelphia and Golden State are possible contenders with the cap space to outbid any midlevel offer.

Suns Again Trying To Lure Barry To Phoenix

Sources have confirmed that Brent Barry has had discussions with Phoenix about possibly becoming a Sun, the East Valley Tribune is reporting.

The Suns, along with the Rockets, tried to sign Barry after his contract was bought out by the Sonics last season, but Barry decided to return to the Spurs.

The San Antonio Express-News said Barry is also being courted by the Lakers and that the Houston Rockets are prepared to offer him their $1.9 million biannual exception, which the Suns have already used on Grant Hill.

Thomas Eyes Return To Spurs

Kurt Thomas would like to return to San Antonio next season but will investigate other opportunities before agreeing to any contract, the San Antonio Express-News is reporting.

“Hopefully, things work out that way,” Thomas said of the possibility of re-signing with the Spurs. “That's the great thing about being a free agent. I get to weigh my options and decide what's best for me and my family.”
