Wilcox Wants To Remain With Sonics

Chris Wilcox is under contract with the Seattle SuperSonics through next season, and he said on Friday that he'd like to remain with the organization beyond his current contract, the Seattle Times is reporting. Wilcox would like to sign an extension in the off season.

"It's definitely a situation that I fit," said Wilcox, who the Seattle Times says turned down a five-year, $62 million deal in 2006. "I'm getting plenty of time, and I'm helping this team. Whatever comes at the end of the season, that's who I'm with."

Stern: Expansion 'Not Tops' On NBA's List

Do not expect a Charlotte Bobcats-type return of NBA basketball to Seattle any time soon.

According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, NBA Commissioner David Stern revealed on a national conference call that expansion "is not tops on our list" at the moment.

"In light of the swirling events and the continuing litigation and the to-and-fro with respect to the Sonics, I'd like to take the opportunity to impose a gag on myself and allow speculation to grow in whatever way is constructive," he said. "The one thing I would say is that we'd like to make it clear that the Sonics' proposed move is not a question of fan support, but an issue of arena capability and the path by which we got to the place where they issued, where they proposed or applied to move."

"But I think our history speaks for itself and depending upon the circumstances under which we depart cities, that has something to do with our ability and willingness and speed in returning."

Wilcox Will Miss Rest Of Season Due To Dislocated Finger

Seattle SuperSonics general manager Sam Presti announced today that forward Chris Wilcox will miss the remainder of the 2007-08 season with a dislocated PIP joint of the right little finger. “After gathering all of the necessary information, the decision has been made to rest the injury and allow for the proper recuperation and rehabilitation to avoid further damage,” Presti said. “We are disappointed that we will be without Chris the remainder of the season but look forward to having him back healthy next year.”
