Curry dismisses attacks as byproduct of losing

Toronto Raptors swingman Michael Curry calmly deflected recent attacks against him yesterday, saying they are nothing more than a byproduct of losing.

"When you're losing, there's going to be finger pointing and there's going to be a lot of negative things brought out," Curry said. "And that's the reality of it. That's what happens when you lose."

Last week, in a report published in The Globe and Mail that detailed a division that exists in the Raptors' locker room, Curry was painted as a player many of the other players on the team no longer trusted, viewed as little more than a stool pigeon for Kevin O'Neill, the team's embattled coach.

"I hold my credibility up against anybody," Curry said when questioned about the allegation.

Raptors' Alvin Williams on injured list

TORONTO (AP) Raptors guard Alvin Williams was placed on the injured list with a sore right knee, and guard Milt Palacio was activated for Wednesday's game at Houston.

Williams hasn't suited up the past two games since leaving in the third quarter against Chicago on March 19. He had been activated just two days earlier after arthroscopic surgery to relieve knee inflammation Feb. 27.

Williams is averaging 8.8 points and 4.0 assists. He is eligible to return to the active roster April 4 when the Raptors host Milwaukee.

Palacio, averaging 4.7 points and 3.3 assists, has missed the past five games with a swollen left knee.

Raptors activate Williams, place Mason Jr. on injured list

TORONTO (AP) The Toronto Raptors activated guard Alvin Williams for Wednesday's game against the Utah Jazz and placed Roger Mason Jr. on the injured list with a sprained left ankle.

Williams had surgery to relieve inflammation on his right knee Feb. 27 and missed 11 games. He is averaging 8.9 points, 4.1 assists and 31.1 minutes in 54 games this season.

His return is good news for the Raptors, who have not had starters Vince Carter, Jalen Rose and Williams together in the lineup since Feb. 1.

Mason Jr. averaged 4.3 points, 1.1 rebounds and 13 minutes in 19 games with the Raptors.
