The Jazz had not yet heard from the NBA on Wednesday regarding an incident involving second-round draft choice Whaley in Tuesday's preseason loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, basketball boss Kevin O'Connor said. Still, there seemed to be a sense of resignation that the league's disciplinarians would soon call. "Robert is a rookie," O'Connor said, "and he's got to learn his actions could cost the team something — and cost himself something." A monetary fine and perhaps a suspension may await Whaley, who punched Adam Parada's neck after the Lakers free agent elbowed him in the throat in Tuesday's closing minutes. Jazz trainer Gary Briggs said Monday that Boozer could return for Friday night's home game against Denver, but Wednesday's game against the Houston Rockets was doubtful. Boozer led the team in scoring (17.8) and rebounding (9.0) before spraining his right foot on Feb. 14 at Phoenix and sitting out the rest of the season. He said the foot has recovered, but his hamstring is tender. ``It's gotten a lot stronger. It just depends on how it responds,'' Boozer said. ``I don't want to go out there in a situation where I hurt it again or aggravate it again.''
