An Eastern Conference executive told the Plain-Dealer that either Milt Newton, director of player personnel with the Washington Wizards, or former Cavaliers forward Danny Ferry, director of basketball operations for San Antonio, will become the Cavs' general manager.
Sources also said that Scott Perry, director of player personnel for the Pistons, may join the Cavs as assistant GM.
David Morway of the Indiana Pacers had been a candidate, but took himself out of the running on Monday.

Washington Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld announced today that forward Antawn Jamison underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to remove scar tissue in his right knee. The procedure was conducted by Dr. Stephen Lombardo of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
Jamison, who earned his first All-Star selection in 2004-05, averaged 19.6 points and 7.6 rebounds in 68 starts this season. In his first season with the Wizards, Jamison helped lead the Wizards to their best record (45-37) in 26 seasons. He also led the Wizards to their first postseason appearance since the 1996-97 season and their first postseason series win in 23 seasons with a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the 2004-05 NBA Playoffs.
Jamison, who completed his seventh NBA season, has career averages of 19.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Washington Wizards guard Juan Dixon will testify before Congress on Thursday and will likely be the only athlete present when two House committees hold separate hearings on steroid use and testing in major pro sports.
“I was called upon to offer my insight and knowledge of this issue. I look forward to representing the players in this extremely important matter,” Dixon said in a statement.
