Wizards Sign Hiram Fuller And Donell Taylor

Washington Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has signed forward Hiram Fuller and guard Donell Taylor. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We were really encouraged by both Hiram’s and Donell’s performances during Summer League play,” Grunfeld said. “We have watched both of them develop as players, and we’re pleased to add them to our roster.”

Wizards Sign Andray Blatche

Washington Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has signed forward Andray Blatche. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Blatche, a 6-11 forward, was selected by the Wizards in the second round (49th overall) of the 2005 NBA Draft. He averaged 9.2 points and finished second on the team with 6.8 rebounds per game for the Wizards’ Summer League team in Las Vegas in July.

“Andray is a talented prospect, who has great size and really understands the game,” Grunfeld said. “He has displayed a lot of versatility, athleticism and performed very well for our Summer League team.”

Kwame And Caron Officially Switch Clubs

Washington Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has acquired guard/forward Caron Butler and guard Chucky Atkins from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for forward Kwame Brown and guard Laron Profit.

“We are happy to acquire two talented and experienced players in this trade,” said Grunfeld. “Caron is a versatile player who can play both the guard and forward positions for us. Over his career, Caron has been a very productive player, a physical defender and a very unselfish player. Chucky has experience as a starter in this league, and also has been a valuable contributor off the bench. He is a good three-point shooter and a tough defender.”

“I’m pleased that we’ve added two talented players to our rotation, said Wizards Head Coach Eddie Jordan. “Caron is a proven scorer in this league, and Chucky will really stretch the defense for us. They also bring playoff experience to our roster.”
