Washington Post Confirms Arenas Leaving Agent

The Washington Post has confirmed the story broken by RealGM's Christopher Reina that Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas plans to part ways with longtime agent Dan Fegan.

Arenas declined to comment when reached by phone yesterday. However, a league source close to Arenas said the two-time all-star is in the process of filing paperwork to sever ties with Fegan and planned to wait "at least a year" before selecting new representation.

Arenas Parts Ways With Agent

Multiple sources have confirmed to RealGM’s Christopher Reina that Gilbert Arenas has parted ways with his agent, Dan Fegan.

Fegan negotiated the six-year, $65 million contract that Arenas signed with the Wizards during the summer of 2003.

The contract paid off for Washington, as Arenas has made two All-Star games and led the Wizards into the playoffs in each of the past two seasons.

Grunfeld Confirms Pecherov's Status

Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld confirmed to members of the media that Wizards 2006 first round pick Oleksiy Pecherov will play next season in Europe.

Grunfeld, who along with Head Coach Eddie Jordan, met with the media on Tuesday, stated that "for now he's staying in (Europe)".

"I don't feel it's good for any young player, if it can be avoided, to just sit on the bench without playing," said Grunfeld. "The only way young players get better is by being out on the court, playing in real game type situations."

"The games they play over there are in front of a lot of people," Grunfeld added. "They're pressure-packed type of games where you have big plays and big shots. The players are physical and every game means something. That's much more important than just working on fundamentals every single day, without the banging and real game type of experience."
