If you believe in jinxes, you're going to hate that I made this thread after making a similar one in 2009. Can we finish things this time? The schedule is heavily in our favor, with weaker opponents, more home games, and more rest than the other two teams. I see Cleveland being the first to drop out of the race. The White Sox will be harder to shake.

Huge, huge win today. With Cleveland losing as well, we made up ground on both. score

Huge win, indeed. If the White Sox or Indians were still interested in winning the division, they should make a secret pact with each other. Whoever wins the first of their remaining 8 games against each other gets the rest as well.

Is it too much to ask Detroit to sweep at Cleveland as well?

Sure would be nice. Fister is throwing a gem right now.

Fister threw a great game, good to get the W against Ubaldo and the Indians.

Over the past two series, Detroit's chance at winning the division has shot up from 84% to 99.6% according to Accuscore.

How can this be when TSE has said all along that the team was headed for disaster?

Who do you want to see in a shortened playoff rotation? I'l go with

1. Verlander
2. Scherzer
3. Fister
4. Porcello

Obviously if we get in a situation where Verlander is needed and he's feeling fine, toss him in instead of Porcello, or in relief a la Randy Johnson.

It's probably about time to turn this into a homefield advantage race thread with the Rangers.

I'm not sure you'd ever even get to Porcello unless he relieved a starter who got in trouble early. Playing every other day means with a 3-man rotation each guy would throw every 6th day.

But I agree they should carry those four starters, for sure.

JV, Scherzer and Fister for sure. You don't need 4. Rick can be there for long relief as far as I am concerned.

Team won again tonight. Best team in the league right now

I'm not going to worry about that 0.1% chance. This is now the Homefield Advantage Race Thread.

B lineup, Brad penny; I thought for sure this was going to be a loss.

This team is just... wow. There are no words.

2.5 games down to the Yankees with a pretty favorable schedule coming up; they finish with 7 games at home against the O's and Indians. Should be able to close those out pretty nicely.

Meanwhile the Yankees still have 10 more games with the Sawx and Rays.
