We just traded for David freaking Price! When was the last time a team had 3 Cy Young winners in it's rotation? Unbelievable!

Unreal, especially if all we lose is Ajax and Smyly

I wish that we had traded Ray instead of Smyly, it would have been great to get Smyly in the bullpen again. He was great there for us.

I'm worried that were going to see a lot of Donny freaking Kelly again though. I love him and all that, but only in very small doses.

So is Rajai Davis going to start a CF now?

I guess so, I kind of forgot about him. He's okay.

Anyone know where to find the best advanced stats for baseball?

Best Case your looking at Hunter in RF Martinez in LF and Davis/Dirks if he can comeback healthy as a platoon in center. David Price though!!! Jesus..

Would have been nice to get a reliever too.

Seriously though, when was the last time a team had 3 Cy Young winners in their rotation? Especially the last 3 winners in a row? Maybe the Yankees did it once? Unreal. And JV looks like he's rounding into form finally.

Isn't Price signed through next season? If so, I have to think part of this is also insurance against losing Scherzer in free agency this winter. Still, it's impossible not to get excited when you look at our starting rotation now; just gotta hope the bullpen doesn't bite us in the butt.

Scherzer is gone. Everyone knows this. Price is the replacement.

For now, though, we have both. The outfield is ugly (I hope there's some post-deadline waiver wire move coming) without Austin, but that's a move you have to make at that Price. lolz.

I was jumping up and down like a little kid when I saw that we traded for him, most excited I've been since the pistons drafted Drummond.

Jackson is just average when you take into account his offense, so I don't miss him that much, especially if Dirks comes back strong. But losing Smyly and not getting him into the bullpen sucks, I loved Smyly a lot.

I imagine if we win it all this year we won't be resigning anybody of value, since Mike Ilitch is nearly dead. Shame that we won't keep Max, probably.

I'm not big on baseball so can someone compare that trade to a hypothetical NBA trade?

David Price won the Cy Young award, which is given to the game's best pitcher, in 2012.

I guess this would be like us getting Marc Gasol or Paul George for KCP and JSmoove. Hard to make cross sport comparisons like that because pitching is so different from positional players.

Great question, but kinda impossible to answer. Baseball and basketball are just TOO different; it's too much of an "apples to oranges" situation.

Best I can come up with is, are you a football fan? If so, imagine the Lions trading an average starting WR like Nate Burleson (if we still had him) for a truly elite pass rushing DE like J.J. Watt. This trade is the definition of building strength upon strength, as the Tigers now have the last three A.L. Cy Young winners in their starting rotation. Verlander / Scherzer / Price / Porcello / Sanchez is to baseball what a D-Line of Suh / Fairley / Watt / Ansah would be in football.

I liked Jackson and Smyly, but I guess you have to pay the big price to get a guy like Price.

Tigers now have the last 3 Cy Young award winners. And to think I used to hate the Yankees stacking star players sky high....

I think the question of whether Max is here next year is now academic. I'd be absolutely shocked if he was retained.

Scherzer-Verlander-Price-Sanchez

Porcello-Soria-Chamberlin-Nathan

we still have bullpen questions, but overall i would hate to face the tigers in the playoffs. Yes we lost Smyly, who seemed to be turning the corner, and Ajax, however Smyly will never be the ace price is, and Ajax, is a great defensive center, but way to inconsistent of a bat. i think we gave up equal value. While we did lose a prospect, but looking back at Doms trade history of prospects, i'm confident we didn't give up the next miggy.

Our Bullpen still sucks but at least in the playoffs we can bring Anibal and Porcello out of the bullpen. If I'm ever other mlb team though, I would hate to face Price,Scherzer, and Verlander in the playoffs.
