Gattis has been on fire lately! The Astros are pretty okay! Baseball is good!

With the win, the Astros (48-25) completed a 10-0 road trip through Texas, Oakland and Kansas City and improved to a Major League-best 29-11 on the road. The win was only the Astros' third this season (3-21) when trailing after seven innings. They join the Indians (11-0 in 2017), A's and Mariners (both 10-0 in 2002), Braves (10-0 in 1992), Reds (12-0 in 1957) and Yankees (14-0 in 1953) as the only clubs with unbeaten road trips of 10 or more games since 1953.

Springer Dinger, Bregman Dinger, Altuve Dingy, back to back to back!

That was beautiful.

Tucker is going to make his MLB debut today!

https://www.mlb.com/astros/news/astros-call-up-top-prospect-kyle-tucker/c-284671418

The Astros have recalled outfielder Kyle Tucker from Triple-A Fresno, MLB.com has learned, with outfielder Jake Marisnick being optioned in a corresponding move. Tucker, the club's top prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, and the No. 8 overall, will bat seventh and play left field in Saturday's game against the White Sox at Minute Maid Park.

"We want him to play," Astros manager AJ Hinch said. "Obviously I'm going to mix him in and everybody on our team plays. There will be days that he plays, days that he's off."

Tucker, 21, is hitting .306/.371/.520 with 14 homers over 80 games with Fresno. He had one of the most productive Spring Trainings of any Astros player, hitting .409/.438/.818 with five homers in 44 at-bats over 20 games before being assigned to the Minor Leagues. With a crowded outfield in Houston, the club felt his development would best be suited by starting the season with Fresno, where he would get regular at-bats

I'm really liking Tony Kemp, he has been so productive in that 9th spot in the lineup. He doesn't have the defense Marisnick has, but he doesn't strike out constantly and has so much better AB's, his ability to get on base consistently for the top of the lineup is huge.

Giles sent down to AAA after last nights...shenanigans.

This guy is so frustrating, he has the ability to be filthy but just doesn't seem to be able to get it together mentally or emotionally on a consistent basis.

HOUSTON -- The Astros struck out more batters on Sunday afternoon than the franchise ever has in a nine-inning game. And they lost.

Lance McCullers Jr., who contributed 11 of the team's 19 strikeouts, was brilliant Sunday for much of his outing. He sat down 11 straight Rangers to begin the day and completed his first four innings by allowing just one baserunner. The curveball was filthy, the command was precise and a superb outing was brewing.

Then McCullers' evening was spoiled in his final two innings, and the Astros were swept for the first time this season with a 4-3 loss to the Rangers at Minute Maid Park.

Five errors made the Astros' defense suboptimal all series long, and their offense didn't do much to propel the club through its flaws. Having won eight consecutive games against the Rangers entering this series, this weekend was different.

Texas outscored Houston, 22-8, in the three-day set, pegging its cross-state rival with its fourth consecutive loss and first series sweep since Sept. 8-10, 2017, at Oakland.

Crappy series against the Rangers, but it happens.

The offense is just miserable right now, of course no Altuve/Correa doesn't help...makes me wonder if they might try to trade for another bat. Reddick and Marwin have been disappointing, Tucker is still a rookie, Springer has been struggling(though he will inevitably go on another hot streak soon enough), Kemp needs to be in the lineup every day but he's not a great defensive outfielder and I guess they don't trust him at 2B even while Altuve is out, who knows when McCann will be back, if at all...

Not even sure who they'd go after if they did seek another bat, but hopefully they get some mojo going against the Mariners/Dodgers this coming week.

Anyways, small stretch in a long season with a lot of baseball left to play.

Go Astros!

Yea, I was pondering how I should feel about this one as well. I posted on the Toronto forum asking what they think about the guy, both on the field and as a human being...curious to see what they have to say.

Anyways, I have learned to trust Luhnow and his staff and will give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Definitely not sad to see Giles go though, I can say that much. Now if he goes on to pull a Lidge perfect season and win a WS somewhere else, then...lol.

Should be a fun series this weekend going back to LA to play the Dodgers. Not sure how much I can watch tonight due to the late start, but hopefully I can catch most of the games.

Altuve will not be playing in this series, that sucks, but Verlander/Lance/Cole set to go should be fun.

Go Astros.

All in all, good road trip, especially considering the injuries. I'll take 6-2 against some good teams anytime.

Correa is working his way back and I was relieved that the injury to Springer wasn't worse. Nothing broken and they say it's just a strain, so that's damn good news. In the meantime, nice to see other guys like Marwin/White step up with some huge hits the last couple games.

Now let's see if they can keep it going at home against Seattle. Astros seem to do better on the road for whatever reason, and it'd be nice to bury the Mariners even further back in the standings.

Geez...now Jake is hurt, after he's been pretty solid at the plate since his return. His defense saved them from giving up a couple runs earlier, he's hitting the ball well and having good PA's, and pulls up lame on a double.

:sigh:

WHY are they so terrible at home? I know Springer/Altuve are out but geeeeeez...

Who do we have to blow in order to score some runs?

If I promise to never steal Jobu's rum again can we please score a few runs and win a game at home?

Actually, screw that, and screw Jobu. He drinks crappy rum anyways.

GO ASTROS!!!
