Pirates Probable Lineup:

SS Jack Wilson
2B Freddy Sanchez

Brewers Probable Lineup:
2B Rickie Weeks
SS JJ Hardy
1B Prince Fielder
CF Bill Hall

LF Kevin Mench
RF Corey Hart
3B Tony Graffanino
P Claudio Vargas

Captain Erv's Bold Prediction: Coming off a disappointing loss in which the Crew lead 2-0 going into the 7th inning, it will be important to get back on the winning track. Vargas hasn't exactly been stellar lately and he has used some sort of Houdini act to escape some major jams. He beat Pittsburgh earlier this year going 7 strong innings. Weeks and Hall really need to start getting it going, especially Hall, who should be licking his chops at the three lefties the Pirates are sending to the mound in a row. The Crew will win a nailbiter, 4-3.

Yeah I kinda was working on it during the game. I'm not exactly a pro at game threads so I didn't want to slop something together. Sorry my threads don't live up to yours man.

EDIT: I guess yours is better because you have an additional picture in the thread?

Yeah we could use your turn in the rotation again pretty soon since you got us a few wins to go along with your humorous game threads. trwi7 did an excellent job as well getting us a nice 5 game winning streak. Lets get a new streak going tomorrow. Who knows, maybe Captain Erv can get really hot and win us some free George Webbs.

Yeah hopefully, I'm 0-1 so far.

Anyway, enough jib jab about the game threads, let's talk about the game. Anyone else think Bill needs to be dropped from the four hole for awhile? He looks awful at the plate and even more baffling is the fact that he looks awful against lefties too.

Agreed but Hall is batting .290 against lefties. I wouldn't mind moving Hall to the 3 spot in front of Fielder since Fielder is batting .324 against lefties and could protect Hall and hopefully get him a lot of fastballs to hit and get him back on track. Maybe a line up like (Batting % against lefties):

Weeks (.276)
Hardy (.233 but can't stop the hit streak)
Hall (.290)
Fielder (.324)
Mench (.400)
Hart (.375)
Miller (.301)
Counsell (.300)
Vargas (.000 but who cares)

Would work pretty well tomorrow

i agree with dropping hall from the 4 spot. even letting jj lead off for a bit, though that probably wouldn't happen. i think getting ricky and billy out of their spots would help them a lot. also disappointed i'm getting no thread-making love, ill have to step it up.

I'm sure you'll be lucky enough to be scrutinized by trwi7! :)

I don't think JJ would be a good fit at leadoff, but better in the three hole.

I forgot about that one. You are right, it was an excellent thread that was packed with a lot of good relevant info and well researched.
Now if you and WEF4PIM were to work together, you guys could create the best game thread ever known to REALGM. Maybe even the best ever known to man. That would be something special. :D

I will be at this game so if anyone sees like 60 empty bottles of miller lite behind a dodge durango before the game come stop by. I made it mandatory for anyone who is in my tailgating crew to each bring a 12 pack.

Vargas/Estrada on the "strike 'em out, throw 'em out."

Is there a better baseball term besides "can-a-corn."
