What about his low K-rate?

The Yankees have exercised caution in promoting Kennedy, who has been dominating the FSL. Why would they promote a guy who just got rocked?

They're exercising caution with Kennedy because it is his first professional season. Even though he is going to be a fast mover, they are still cautious. Marquez is 22 years old and has been pitching in the Yankees system since 2004, they know what he is about. He has had a phenominal season, and even with his awful start today his ERA is still 2.75. He had a 2.06 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP before today, does a bad start erase all of that? It definitely shouldn't.

Has there been any news on Kennedy? Now with another spot soon to be vacated shouldn't this lead to an immediate promotion? He's been nothing short of dominant!

NYKnstill

I have lost hope with Tim Battle. I know he didn't strike out alot tonight, but he's leading the Florida State League in strikeouts.

Did you watch the Roger Clemens start in Tampa? I saw Tim Battle bat three times and he struck out all three times. He hasn't the foggiest idea how to hit a breaking ball.

the breaking ball seems to be his only problem you don't give up on 21 yr. olds w/ that type of talent and fielding ability/speed, especially on breaking ball type pitches and every 10 games he is decreasing his strike out totals

games

1 - 10 18 K's
11 - 20 14 K's
21 - 30 11 K's

keep the faith :)

Robertson turned out to be such a steal last season. Nobody really knew why he dropped that low in the draft, but still. He has 33 Ks in 21 innings this season, to go along with just 13 hits allowed. I'm not quite sure why he is still in Charleston at the age of 22.

Phil Hughes threw 35 pitches off a mound Wednesday in his first bullpen session since suffering a strained left hamstring.

Hughes' next mound session will come Friday or Saturday.

http://yankees.scout.com/2/646306.html

Carlos Urena had a tremendous day and definitely was the player of the game. He went 2 for 4 with five RBIs and two runs scored. In the second inning he drove in Jesus Montero and Tim O'Brien on a double into the left field corner and scored a run on Hollingsworth's sacrifice fly. In the fourth inning he hit a soft liner to the shortstop. In the sixth inning he could not hold up on a high fastball and struck out swinging to end the inning. He put the game well out of reach in the eighth inning when he hit a three-run double down the third base line. He ended up scoring his second run on a Kelvin Castro triple.

Jesus Montero demonstrated his liking of hitting to the opposite field as his two hits of the day went to right field. He singled and scored a run on Carlos Urena's double as part of the Yankees' four run second inning. He struck out swinging on a breaking ball in the dirt in the third inning and grounded into a 6-4-3 double play in the sixth inning. His biggest hit of the day came in the eighth inning when he hit a two-run single down the right field line. He is not known to be a base stealing threat but did steal second base which seemed to amuse some on the Yankee bench. He also scored his second run of the game on Urena's double.

Dellin Betances had a strong outing on Wednesday. Not one hitter could catch up to his fastball that topped out at 94 MPH. He pitched three innings, throwing 34 pitches, 25 for strikes. He gave up one hit but did not allow a run while striking out five. He had a 1-2-3 first inning by getting a ground ball to the shortstop on the first pitch he threw. He struck out the next two hitters swinging on high fastballs that just overpowered the batters. In the second inning he gave up a lead off single up the middle but did not let it faze him as he mowed through the next three hitters. He got a fly-out to centerfield and ended the inning with two strikeouts, both looking. The first strikeout was on a nasty curveball which he did have very good command through his three inning effort. The second one was on a fastball that painted the outside corner and froze the hitter. He ended his day by getting a 1-2-3 inning with a fly-out, a pop-out, and to top off a great day, he struck out the last batter looking.
