Game 1
11 innings
New York Yankees 4
Oakland A's 5
W - Huston Street (2-1)
L - Brian Bruney (0-1)
HR - Eric Chavez (1), Nick Swisher (1)
Game Notes:
- Travis Buck's leadoff triple in the 11th was the clutch hit the A's needed to pull this one out.
- Justin Duchscherer gave up 2 hits and then pitched his way out of a 2nd and 3rd w/no outs situation.
- Dan Haren through 107 pitches in 5 innings. Not his best work.
Game Two
13 innings
New York Yankees 4
Oakland A's 3
W - Brian Bruney (1-1)
L - Lenny DiNardo (0-1)
HR - Alex Rodriguez (7), Jason Giambi (2),
Game Notes:
- Jason Kendall threw out 3 basestealers in 3 attempts. Much more encouraging than previous years, his throws are extremely accurate now.
- Crosby has made 4 errors in this young season, and certainly isn't picking up the slack with his bat.
- Travis Buck and Mike Piazza are now tied for the team lead in batting average. It shouldnt be too long before Buck is out of the 8 slot and into a run producing position...
- Alan Embree continues to be our most reliable arm out of the pen. So far a great offseason pickup.
Game 3
New York Yankees 4
Oakland Athletics 5
W - Jay Marshall (1-0) , first major league win
L - Mariano Rivera (1-1)
HR - Marco Scutaro (1)
Game Notes:
- Jason Kendall kept his CS streak going by nailing Derek Jeter on an attempted steal. No other Yankees tried to steal a base.
- Rich Harden left the game with shoulder stiffness. So if you had 3 starts til the DL in the office pool, you're looking pretty good about now.
- Marco Scutaro hit an 0-2 cutter off of Mariano Rivera into the cheap seats. Mr. Clutch is making a strong case to be the starting SS...
- Milton Bradley, again, sat with a strained hamstring. He hasn't played in the last four games.
2007 Season Series
