Rangers @ Mariners

Post#1 » by Bulltalk » Thu Apr 24, 2014 4:08 pm

The M's, after that 9th inning walk-off win, do have a slim chance here to resurrect some hope for the season. If we can sweep this series (doubtful, but it's a thought/possibility) and get back to 11-13 before heading back out on the road again, we don't have to write the season off quite yet. In our favor is the emotional up of that last win, that we don't face Darvish in this series, that Felix will be pitching in it, that there is a sense of competitive desperation here.

I still want to hope. What can I say?

Wow, Elias just destroyed Beltre and Choice with his curveball. That kid's come out of nowhere and looks pretty damned impressive.

I can't find it in me to give up. Not that I should given how early it is into the season, but this team tends to engender such despair. All it takes is a couple things to go right...Seager starting to hit, pitchers getting healthy, etc.

Gillespie gets the start tonight which is interesting. I don't hold him in high esteem but, well, it wouldn't be bad to see if we have someone who might be able to contribute in the outfield. Almonte's really struggling...I think he's the only guy without a day off so far [even Cano's DH'd].

Missed most of the game. Real nice rally here in the bottom of the 8th. Two late game rallies in a row (if they can win this one) can give this team some renewed confidence. We'll see.

One thing I will say about Smoak...he seems dramatically better from the right side of the plate.

Thank goodness for the insurance runs. I want this 9th inning to be as unadventurous as possible for Rodney.

What a play by Smoak! Wow.

Now let's get the Felix win tomorrow, go for the sweep on Sunday and 11-13.

Is that far too much to ask for?

Sunday's definitely the intriguing half of that request. Maurer gets his second start, while Harrison's back for his first of the year? There's a decent chance the Rangers simply punish Maurer.
