Its really not worth debating. Lively is not our 2nd most important player. He is a 19 year rookie who is a decent rebounder and mostly a beneficiary on the offensive end based on Luka and Kyrie's penetration. You may be able to argue he's our 3rd most important player considering our defense and rebounding issues. With that being said, we need to upgrade the 4 and we need a vet center not named Powell, imo.

First of all, i said it jokingly, maybe you missed that and 2nd, you can't be watching this game and following Mavs entire year thinking Lively is not one of the most impactful players on the team? +9 On/Off and opponents shooting only 55% against him around the rim.

3rd most impactful player, i can see that. I'm not taking anything away from Lively.

Rebounds and defense is more important than Kyrie scoring.

Kyrie is more important than Lively at the moment...Lively has been good but let's not pretend like he didn't have problems against top C's,which is understandable since he's a rookie....without Kyrie,Mavs are down 20 to Minny... who's replacing him on O?? Nobody outside Luka can create for others

By that Logic, Robert Gobert is a more important player than Anthony Edwards. It's just not true. It's really a silly argument tbh.

For the Mavs Lively being the only big yes, he is more important... Mavs got Powell and Williams as bigs! Plus Exum been giving them great contributions in Kyrie absence.

Williams, seriously?? The Guy is smaller than Luka...yes he's strong, but he lacks the size, speed or the athletic ability to hang with the skilled big men

Another problem for Mavs is perimeter defense. They are weak without Exum, so there is a lot of drives happening to the rim where AGAIN, there is no one to stop/help. This is where Lively has been good at, doing stuff that don't even show up in stats. Moving his feet, showing those long hands, etc... I won't even dive into how important are his box outs and rebounds.

So, it's easier to argue for Kyrie when Exum is out but when both are playing, it's more than evident how extremely different Mavs look with or without Lively.

how many wide open 3's have we missed tonight? if those are hit off passes from kyrie and luka...we're winning this game. wide open shots by the supporting cast and lack of rebounding has been the issue.

Exum has been great but he can't replace Kyrie, come on now...And Lively has been good but let's not pretend like he wouldn't have problems against Minny, like he did against Cavs(Allen)

I never said he could and i didn't say he's better than Kyrie but Exum has great impact numbers and has incredible On/Off numbers for the year aswell. My point is, team is totally different with Lively playing and based on impact he's been Mavs 3rd best player so far.

THJ and DJJ 3/14 from 3 so far is not ideal.

This is why you bring Kyrie in. For games against the top teams. I love how everyone was involved and we kept the pace up and people just werent watching Luka all game. In the long run, this will make us a more dangerous team and Luka ball is always available late in games when we need to manufacture points. Now, the Mavs need to really think about improving the 4, improving the backup center, and making sure their comfortable with the shooters we have going forward. Kyrie and Luka are going to get guys a lot of wide open shots throughout the year. Rebounding, hitting wide open shots, and defense as a team are the 3 biggest question marks for this team. When we do those things well, we're very hard to beat.

DJJ for MVP at the end. Great defense and awareness on offense. Huge win.
