The Clippers basically want Luka to take those hard shots. They want us to go one on one. I think we definitely need to have that sense of intensity of defense and if we're gonna funnel - Luka still needs to give effort. You cannot just let guys walk into the lane - especially guys as talent as George and Harden. Make the game messy. Furthermore, Luka has to adjust his game to get easier shots - move without the ball - get to different spots, etc. I blame Kidd for this. Kidd has to step up his coaching and make adjustments.

However, if Luka wants to be considered the best player in the league - the effort has to be there on the defensive end and he has to make adjustments to his game to get better shot depending on how the defense is guarding him.

5 assists by the Mavs . When you're leader is shut down the others are needed but the offense isnt geared for them to be successful.

In 20 minutes of play the Mavs had 5 assists ,that last 4 minutes they got 5 assists. The Mavs worry me because they play offense so scared to fail and then fail because of it.

Most of this poor offensive showing is due to Jason Kidd. The way the Clippers are guarding Luka is basically to force him into one on one shots. Luka is not really penetrating easy on this defense. We have seen this all series. His shooting % hasn't been great. Kidd should have had Luka move around a lot more, cuts, and find different areas of scoring where the defense cannot just hone in on him.

Especially, when the others arent hitting there 3s. Once Kidd saw this - he should have switched the strategy to Luka moving off the ball to get his shot off and in find weak spots in the defense where he can score. Instead of Luka being the 3rd guy to touch the ball - he would be the 2nd or 3rd so the defense is kept off guard. Maybe Kyrie (who is quicker ) should be the initiator versus this defense?

In other words, Kidd needs a backup plan when Luka struggles in his one on one scoring and when the others arent hitting their 3s. That backup plan should probably be Luka moving without the ball and being the finisher and not the initiator versus this defense when he struggles.
