RS 23/24 - Mavs vs Spurs (Wed., 730PMEST)

Post#1 » by Dirk » Tue Feb 13, 2024 1:21 pm

Game of the season right here. Can head to the All star break on a semi fake winning streak. Plus, it's always fun to beat the Spurs.

The Spurs just destroyed the Raptors on their own turf. Hopefully the Wizards game served as a semi wake up call and there's a better start and energy from the go in this one.

So is the Mavs focus against trash teams. Should be a win, no excuses but if anyone can manage to lose this its the Mavs.

I forgot.

Bonus: Grant Williams play.
Spoiler:

Nice stat line! He's started excellent, I've been curious to see if he'd continue to be a trainwreck, but so far... he's been fine.

Some deceving stats: his assists aren't "real assists" and hit a ton of fts, mostly at the end of the game being intentionally fouled i guess.

Gafford 5x blocks.

Luka/Gafford/etc vs Wemby off 10 blocks against the Raptors. Will be interesting to watch the dynamics.

ID love for us to go back to the starting lineup we used on our east coast trip.

Wemby will eat Gafford alive, but we still win this. :D

Has anyone ever achieved a quadruple-double?
Wemby might just be able to pull it off some day.

Dante Exums Injury got updated to "expected to be out until at least Feb 22".
Lively, Luka, Kyrie and Maxi are on Game Time Decision.

I would still rest Lively till after the ASG. Luka, Kyrie and Maxi should be playing. This is an import game and we all know how we look in "easy" games.

Yes, four players have.

Nate Thurmond, Alvin Robertson, Hakeem, and David Robinson. The bigs got theirs with pts, reb, ast, and blks. Alvin did steals instead of blocks

TJ McConnel few years ago had triple double with pts, assts and steals but only had 2 rebounds.
Wemby is getting quadruple-double while still on his rookie scale contracts, dude is insane.

Mavs have 4 games left in the division, 2 Spurs games and 2 Rockets games, if they win all of them, they secure the tie breaker with the Pelicans, Pelicans have 6 losses within the division and Mavs have 5.

There was an inexcusable loss to the Grizz, so hopefully this isnt another repeat of that

Hope Lively sits this one out.

Honestly wouldnt be opposed to sitting Luka either since hes gonna be playing this weekend and the Spurs are garbage.

If they targeted Dinwiddie, I assume theyll look at other guards as well. House? Fournier? Hayes?

Hayes may be worth a shot. He should have never been drafted ahead of Hali, but we know better than anyone how awful some GM's did on the night of 2020. We need a backup facilitator since Exum has proven yet again he cant handle the NBA grind. So yea, give KIllian a shot. Regardless of what happens, say goodbye to Dante.

I don’t want to write off Exum yet, but I will say that the entire Mavs medical staff should be fired after this season. This is embarrassing

Why should the medical staff be fired? Because the injury prone guy has injuries. You bring a guy like Exum because if he gets healthy he is our best role player. It’s not like Exum is getting 20M. He’s a low risk high reward 4 million dollar shot.
