Rays August thread

Post#1 » by craig01 » Thu Aug 2, 2012 12:51 am

Rays start off the month on a good note behind 4A pitcher Alex Cobb.

Rays staff was brilliant on this just completed 9-game trip....going 6-3 against teams ahead of them in the standings.

Now, just give the Rays 2 bats in the lineup.....

hope he finds his bat. we sure could use it.. with rhymes heading down, i wonder who will take over 3B until evan gets in full time. Don't know if Kepp can play it, but I'd like to keep him in the lineup.

Yes....apparently a minor confidence boost.

Now, if the Rays can just get some guys more consistent (Zobrist, Pena, Jennings, Upton), this team is at a nice stage to make a deep run.

Bats gotta come and stay alive though.

There's a nice article over at tampabayrays.com explaining how Zobrist's shift to SS has improved the offense -- keeping Kepp/Roberts in there and SRod/EJ out. The offense should see a nice boost now, but not sure how the defense will look. Hopefully with the best all around pitching staff in baseball, we can afford a little dip in D for a little more O.

If the bats just get a bit more consistent while the staff stays good, the Rays are in a nice position...

Rays give up 8 runs and 14 hits in first 3 innings, trail 8-0 by the end of the 3rd.....but comeback and win 10-8.

5 back of NY.

Wow 4 game road sweep of the Angels! Offense looked good against some big name pitchers, and our pitching was great too.

Pitching has been awesome, defense is getting better, now it's a matter of bats getting consistent and staying healthy.

Will Kepp be our everyday 1B? Crazy to see Pena and his huge paycheck sitting on the bench, but that's where he belongs if he can't hit over .200

The bats have been getting more consitent and the pitching has been spectacular. Great job by the team to fight thru injuries. Now lets see if they can catch NY. They have enough time to do it.

RedSox just took a monster salary dump on the Dodgers. I think the AL East just got a little easier, even though Boston was already under performing this year..

Boston gave up for this year .....at least on paper.

I don't think the trades will really hurt HOW the Sox have been performing however.

Moore struggled in the first, leading to 2 runs for the Blue Jays. Rays still trailing 2 - 0 in the bottom of the 4th.

I haven't watched a Rays game in awhile. I hope they can get some runs on the board on my first game watching again in months so we don't lose. LOL.

Shutout yet again... Rays lose 2 - 0.

It seems like the Rays have been shutout the most in the MLB since Evan's been called up a few years ago.

Its offense, always offense. This team has more than enough pitching to win the world series but our offense is down right putrid and the downfall of this team. If this team does not make the post season its all on the "N"offense.
