Rays one back of the Red Sox, who scored 6 in the bottom of the 9th to pull out a win.

I thought that one was in the bag. Maybe this is their year......UGH

Archer on the mound tonight.

Boston and the Rays both lose tonight... Still tied in losses.

Price vs Lincecum tonight.

Rays are striking out far too much of late, especially longoria. I hated the lineup last night, so I hope Maddon rethinks that approach.

Also of note- the rays July record was the best in MLB since the 1941 Yankees.

Somethings not right with Longo mentally. He looks terrible and unconfident of late.

I think he'll turn it around, but hopefully sooner, rather than later.

Rays win 2-1 in the 10th in walkoff fashion. Myers seems like he'll be special for awhile.

Some new approach he's trying where he swings at everything in the dirt and let's the meatballs cruise across the plate...

JMO, but it's pitch recognition.

He swings at balls in the dirt or off of the plate, and takes fastballs right down the middle.

He looks like he is just guessing at pitches, which we know does not work too well.

His K rate is off of the charts these days.

I'd like to see him stop trying to pull the ball, shorten that swing a tad, and look for his pitch.

He'll come out of it....

his stat line might not show it, but longo looked good at the plate today. made good contact on nearly every ball he put in play. hope this is him coming out of the slump!

Since late June, Longo was batting .181 and had 38 K's in 94 AB's.

Since the All star break, he had 27's in 58 AB's.

Today he looked like he is coming out of the funk.

Nice win today, as the Rays kept pace with Boston.

really excited to think we have myers for the next 5-6 years at least! him and longo batting 3/4 will be a force for a loooong time.

Yeah, and I personally think Myers will surpass Evan in 2 years. Maybe even next year.

If he keeps hitting like this, he's already surpassed most of the league!

Jennings to DL with fractured finger. Bourgeois called up from Durham to take the roster spot. Good fielding CFer. Top of the order righty with a ton of speed. Doesn't strike out a ton, but also doesn't walk a ton either. No power. Hitting both RHP and LHP well this year. Looking at his history, he had some really nice numbers in the majors in 2011 (hit .294 and swiped 31 bags in 238 at-bats). Last year he regressed a bit, but this year looks like he's back. He could step in and contribute immediately.

Jennings has turned into my favorite player on the Rays this season, I hope he comes back really soon.

According to Joe, he should be back just around the time he's off the DL.

He's been a huge improvement over Upton with consistency, effort, and production.

Upton had more HR's and stolen bases, but Jennings doesn't go for a month with 40% K's either.

Jennings doesn';t have the arm Upton has, but covers just as much ground and rarely makes mental mistakes.

Rays lose a tough one. Archer allowed a run in the first, but in the second inning it looked like he was going to turn it on... Until he got injured that is.

It was unfortunate, but Maddon did the right thing by taking him out of the game.

I fully believe we would've won if not for the unfortunate injury. The Rays bats came alive, but, the pitching let them down tonight. Its the second night in a row where the pitchers just didn't deliver. I'm expecting a big turn around next game from the entire staff.

I would be very concerned about Archer.

Even though Maddon said after he game that archer would make his next start, I would expect that might not happen.

I think he'll be fine. But the Rays should watch Archer closely and make sure he doesn't make whatever he has worse.
