I think he was saving Romano for the extra inning situation where you start with a runner on second, and strikeouts are of greater importance.

That's fine, but there is no 10th inning at all if Cimber doesn't get the job done in the first place (and he got very lucky in allowing 3 consecutive balls at 100 MPH). If you start managing for future innings, you end up looking like 2016 Buck Showalter soon enough.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t trust Romano any more than I do Cimber. They’re just different.

Romano is a much better RP and Cimber hasn't been particularly good for about a month now either. We got lucky to make it to the 10th given Schneider's peculiar usage of Bass tonight.

It was a No-Brainer to walk Devers. It would have been foolish for even Schneider to not intentionally walk Boston's best hitter, with First Base open.

The optimal decision is to keep Bass in there for the 9th, obviously. But I'd rather have Cimber in the 9th and Romano in the 10th, just owing to their respective tendencies and the stupidity that is the forced runner. Cimber's power suppression works better with no one on, Romano's FB/K rate works better with a guy on and none out.

I don't think Schneider made that choice for the right reason (I'd imagine it was the old-fashioned "save him for the save"), but he might've made the right choice for the wrong reason.

Red Sox should be shooting for losses at this point… To improve their draft position. Hopefully their lineup tomorrow reflects that!

I mean, I guess so. Romano mostly has better numbers. But for what it’s worth, going into this game, Romano had an xERA half a run higher than Cimber’s xERA.

If you're going to cherry pick a Cimber stat, I'd go with wins. Just picked up his 10th. Maybe he'll lead the team by the end.

I mean, I think that part of it was probably also where in the order they were. Cimber can handle the bottom of the order, and save the meat for Romano.

Cimber has 15 decisions (W or L) in 53.1 innings pitched. That's ridiculous.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

The Angels are so bad. Thankfully, we get them next, followed by the Cubs and Pirates (granted, TB has trash teams coming up too). We better not **** up this stretch.

I generally don't cheer for any player to wash out of the majors young, even those on rival teams, unless they've done something heinous. I make an exception if your parents named you Kutter.
