Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Is Finally Having the Vladito Season We’ve Been Waiting For
The 22-year-old Blue Jays slugger has long been the object of hype and excitement. And this year, he’s living up to it all.

"Finally"? Any realistic fan knew Vladdy would need a bit of time. In fact I think he's way ahead of what many fans originally thought when he'd blow up.

Realistic fans were fairly hard to come by, heh. There were a lot of people here, including many generally level-headed ones, who were fretting over whether Vlad was a bust.

I'll also reiterate: this isn't even his final form. He still hits the ball on the ground quite a bit, though less than previous, and his production on groundballs has improved because there are more screaming one-hoppers and fewer chopped balls to third. And his production on flyballs has skyrocketed, from an xwOBA of .359 (meh) last year to .695 (otherworldly) now that he's letting his straightaway/oppo power carry the day. But there's still potentially a version of Vlad that turns some of those scorched one-hop singles into doubles in the gaps, and turns some of the 110 mph low liners into home runs, and if the current Vlad is arguably the best pure hitter in baseball, that guy would be utterly unplayable.

I was concerned with Vladdy last year but my main issue was his physical conditioning. He clearly did not prepare the same way and it showed. The correlation between his body transformation and his breakout is not a great surprise.

Who do you think will be the better hitter going forward: Vladdy or Juan Soto?

Tough to say. I think that Soto's the more complete hitter at the moment, because his zone control is absolutely otherworldly...he simply doesn't chase pitches. But Vlad could well reach the same lofty heights, and he has more natural power (not that Soto is lacking in that department himself).

Now first in average and 2nd in homers. This is MLB not AL to boot.

Could Vladdy be the second player to take the triple crown since 1967 and still be runner up in mvp voting?

People in the replies are acting like Vlad's flaunting his wealth, but fully loaded a 2021 Corvette Stingray (which I'm 95% sure that is) is a $100k USD car. There's something weirdly endearing about Vlad finishing 2nd in the MVP race and buying the dream car of every 45 year old middle manager in Toledo. An Aventador it ain't.

Vlad's been checking gas prices.. Gets slightly better MPG with a Chevy compared to the Lambo...
