On Gameday, it's about 0.2" below the strike zone. You can't take that and hope that the ump, who has had a generous strike zone, calls it a ball.

That was a slider at the bottom of the zone. He can't take that pitch. Well located.

No reason for Vlad to reach for a 3-2 offspeed pitch low there. That was ball 4.

Other than Bo getting a pitch clock strike. Vlad and Springer had great at bats both went 9+ pitches and Springers ended with what would've been at worst a sharp hit single and a bases clearing double if it got in the gap. That's just baseball luck can't do much about it.

I'd love to actually see what Bo did to get that violation. Sportsnet hasn't yet actually done it. Pretty massive call in the game to not give a replay.

My guess is this guy is a lot more strict on the rule than other umpires the Jays have had so far.

idk, there were a lot of sliders out of the zone. Felt it was best to gear for the fastball and let the low stuff go. But yea it was a tough pitch and Abreau had good stuff. Really tough luck with Springer, xBA of .700.

Springer has been awful. I'm sorry but that contract looks awful right now. Move him down the lineup. He can't get on base. Put Merrifiled in his place to leadoff.

A pitch clock violation in that situation is inexcusable. That's on Bichette.

It's games like this where I miss Gibbons because there's no chance he would have taken Berrios out of the game with 77 pitches after 7 and the bottom of the order up. Use relievers when you have to.

Abreu (who is one of the best strikeout relievers in baseball) threw a perfect 3-2 slider at the bottom of the zone at the end of a 9 pitch AB. Vlad did nothing wrong there. If he takes that, there's a very good chance he's getting rung up.

If it was called strike three (and there's every chance it would have been, it missed the zone by a fraction of an inch), people would be screaming bloody murder that you can't take a pitch in that situation.

He throws only fastball and sliders 3-2 you swing at anything close. He hung one to Springer already so Vlad was on for a slider he even took a couple down and away. That was over the plate you have to swing there.

Why take out Berrios with only 77 pitches thrown?
