Looks like he's going to back up Delhomme. I wish him the best of luck, he was a standup guy in Houston

You mean an on-his-back guy in Houston. Heh heh heh.

After having Chris Weinke start for them for a while, including the game at Atlanta where he threw a grand total of 7 passes (that game was just so hard to watch - third and long and you knew they'd just run it for 2 yards, then punt it back), I can surely understand this move by Carolina. It would be interesting to see how much of Carr's lack of success came about because of his lack of protection in Houston, so hopefully he gets a few games in with the panthers at some point so we can get a look at him in a different environment.

Panthers | Carr agrees
Thu, 5 Apr 2007 23:53:14 -0700

Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports the Carolina Panthers agreed to terms with unrestricted free-agent QB David Carr (Texans) on a two-year contract, according to a league source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Yep, looks like no QB in the draft then for the Panthers.

Good signing for the Panthers, even if he doesn't win the starting job (which I think he will) he'll at least push Delhomme to play better.

It's a good situtation for Carr, he's got a lot of talent around him so if he can't make it work this time then he's officially a bust.

Good signing by the Panthers. It's a low-risk, high-reward type of thing, with a QB who still has potential to make an impact in this league.

I think Carr has a lot of talent and it was Houston's fault for not acquiring some good O-linemen. Carolina'll be perfect for him - he can acclimatize himself to the system while Delhomme shines and then (maybe near the end of this contract?) take over the reins.

Good move, and I like the Panthers so yippee! (I do wonder how much $ he'll be getting though.)

He should take over the starting spot by week 6 if not earlier.

If Delhomme struggles, Carr will get his shot. I like the situation for him. He doesn't have a lot of pressure on him, yet he has a solid team to work with if he ever gets the opportunity.

God signing for them, Carr is only 27, and who knows what he can do in a different situation. And Jake is 32, and we will see, if anything happens to Jake, they have a alright QB to back him up.

It's Carr's fault for not being able to make a decision and holding on to the ball for too long. No one on the Texans even respected him, what a scrub

I think you're being too harsh and he's worth another look. He'll have all the protection in the world in Carolina though so if he can't make it as Delhomme's successor, well, I'll be saut

Delhomme has been living on his Super Bowl reputation for years now. Bottom line, he's little more than a gunslinger, and not a very good one at.

How anyone could still view him as a franchise QB is beyond me. He was flat out terrible last season and Carr will have every chance in the world to win the starting job outright. Carr is definitely the more physicall gifted QB, he's certainly more accurate, and I think he'll surprise a lot of of people when he actually has time to throw the football.
