not sure if that'd be enough to get lauri but we'd still have about $40M to work with.

I'd trade our pick to get someone like that in a heartbeat.

The fact that I feel that way is a pretty solid indicator it's a trade we likely can't get.

I still don’t think that’s enough. And instead of losing assets, I’d much prefer to keep them and get Harris/Bridges/OG using our cap space.

I get that. That very well might be the better way for us to build

With around $60 million in cap space, this would be the season we look to make a splash and sign 2 guys.

#1 target - OG. Best FA on the market. Good 2-way player. Can shoot and defend. Would prob be our starting PF.

Backup plan - Miles Bridges? Does his off-the-court issues (ie character) disqualify him? If he’s a no, Obi Toppin should be our next PF backup option.

Target #2 - Patrick Williams. 3&D role player. Great compliment to Ivey/Cade/Duren. Would prob be our starting SF.

Backup plan - Jalen Wilson. Another 3&D role player.

Trade targets if we strike out on any of the above: DeAndre Hunter
Keldon Johnson
Kyle Kuzma
Other?

I was thinking earlier in the year we trade our pick for Coulibaly, but I think Williams and Risarcher will probably be better or as good, but Coulibsly will be cheaper until we extend whoever we draft.

My FA list:
1. OG
2. Tobias if the contract makes sense
3. Miles Bridges

Trade targets with out top 5 pick:
1. Kuminga
2. JJJ
3. Lauri

I want nothing to do with:
DeAndre Hunter (injury prone)
Keldon Johnson (inefficient volume scorer)
Kyle Kuzma (inefficient volume scorer)

I’d rather eat the wiggins contract than acquire any of those three.

I think our number 1 realistic free agent option would be Miles Bridges. He has recently said he wants to stay with the Hornets and the Hornets have said they want to resign him though. The Hornets have his Birds right. They could sign and trade him to us.

With how well hes been playing and the weakness of this FA class I think the dream a few fans had of getting cheap is dying. We would likely have to offer some value and backup the truck.

Edit-

I'm under the impression that OG and the Knicks essentially have a backdoor deal in place as he wants to be there.

"The Knicks didn't land Anunoby without an understanding of his own financial considerations," Fischer wrote. "Anunoby held meetings with several agencies this past offseason when he decided to leave Klutch Sports, telling potential representation he was interested in a larger offensive role that would be commensurate with a salary figure in the ballpark of $40 million in average annual value, league sources told Yahoo Sports. However, Anunoby did leave those potential agents with the impression he would be willing to accept a smaller figure if he were to have landed in New York, sources said."

Williams and Risarcher are my targets too.

Risarcher has the right skillset but something about his tape doesn’t give me the most confidence.

Stewart/Ausar/2024 1st rd pick

For

Lauri and the Jazz 2024 1st rd pick

After looking through the league, Lauri should be the target.

Throw the kitchen sink at Ainge. After the past few trades with them Weaver has pretty much won both. Ainge deserves some retribution.

Ausar, Stewart, 2024 1rd pick, 2030 1st rd pick, 2032 1st rd pick and eat whatever salary they want.

We cant trade any 1st rounders until our lotto pick conveys to the Knicks. We can move our current 1st rounder only on draft night.

Lauri Markkanen has one year left at $18 milllion in 24-25 and then he's a FA that can leave and go anywhere. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Utah would trade him for the #1 overall pick plus a decent young player on a good contract. #1 pick drives excitement and seats in the stands. It would be a huge risk for us to trade a #1 pick for LM unless he's agreeing to sign a max extension with us. Markkanen is a very good player but he looks a bit less good on a 5 year $300 million contract (if he's all-nba and qualifies for supermax) he is going to want.... even if he doesn't get the Super Max he will still be eligible for 30% of the cap and that five year deal would look like this if he misses the SuperMax.

$155 million Salary Cap estimate for 25-26 so 30% of that is $46.50 starting out.

25-26: $46.50 (Age 28)
26-27: $50.25 (Age 29)
27-28: $54.00 (Age 30)
28-29: $57.75 (Age 31)
29-30: $61.50 (Age 32)
-----------------
Total 5 years $270 million

That's the non sup-max the super max is

25-26: $54.25 (Age 28)
26-27: $58.50 (Age 29)
27-28: $62.75 (Age 30)
28-29: $67.00 (Age 31)
29-30: $71.25 (Age 32)
-------------------
Total 5 years $313 million

That's not true anymore the rule is you can't trade "consecutive future 1st round picks" so you you are correct we can trade our 2024 pick on draft day, but we can also trade our 2029 first round pick now because the pick we owe has to convey by 2027 so 2029 can be up for grabs.

If you want to get a good player our cap space won't be the thing to get it.

Our cap space and our pick will get you much closer but it won't be for what you are thinking. I Hate everything about this draft & Free Agency and I'm just a dumb internet GM.

I think the Harris on a bloated contract is what we've got ahead of us.
Og isnt coming to Detroit.

OGs max is $42.3M starting next season if the cap is $141M

You don’t think that there’s any number that would make NY uncomfortable?
