Upcoming Drafts

So I’ve been looking into this; and there is very little new talent at the PF position coming into the league in the next two drafts. In the upcoming draft there are a few solid prospects projected towards the end of the first round(Mark Mitchell***,Boba Klintmon, Mcbacko, Baba Miller, Bona). We have Burke, Morris, and Bojan all worth late first round picks in a bad draft.
We could deal Burke and Morris to the Knicks for Fourier and they have two second round picks projected between 30-40, one of ours that could be used like the Sasser deal. We could maybe move Bojan to Philly for Marcus Morris and their 1st. The Bucks and Thunder should have early second round picks as well.
If we finish with a top 4 pick maybe we could trade it to Washington for Coulibaly and we could have him a front line of Thompson, Coulibaly, Duran to go along with Cunningham and whoever? That’s sounds like a lot of fun, then you grab Mitchell at the end and one more of those PF prospects and I think something good comes together, and you get the most out of these veterans.

I'm tired of drafts & lotteries for the time being. Time to figure out how to win games.

2 of the best players coming out in 2025 are both power forwards.

Cooper Flagg and Cameron Boozer.

I’m all in for Coop.

I’m assuming we’re not finishing in the top 5 2025

We are trending to be the worst in the league this year. Top 5 worst the following year would be logical.
We need a number one guy like Cooper Flagg and he fits a position of need and is beast on defense.

We are the worst team in the league right now and 8 months away from pushing all our cap space forward yet again..... Also, even if you finish with 30-35 wins depending on how the league is you could be in position to get lucky and land a top 4 pick. The Blazers had 33 wins last year and got the 2nd pick.

27-28 wins this year and 33-34 wins next year doesn't really seem unlikely at all.

As long as they can shoot, defend, and rebound, I think we can get any front court player and have Ausar and Duren and Stew shuffle around them as appropriate.

At what point to we cut ties with Troy? Another treadmill 5th pick in the draft this year and no free agents coming here? At some point Troy has to be on the hot seat.

I can only get excited about drafts for so many years of ineptitude.

The lottery isn’t going to save us and I’m tired of the current roster ceasing to be worth my attention early in the season.

Don’t get me wrong- I’ll still pay attention to drafts when they happen.

As for there not being a lot of power forwards- don’t worry. This team still has plenty of needs. We’re not one piece away. Or two. Or three.

Yeah, honestly, we're not good enough anywhere to not just take the best player available. That said, we really can't add another non-shooter, so BPA better be able to shoot. We might need someone who can create offensively as well, honestly, and need them to be a two-way player. Basically this team looks like it still needs a star (#1 or #2 option). Jury is out on if Cade is the guy or not.

yeah BPA is still very much the strategy for us. cade might be the most difficult to replace with his role but nobody on the team is irreplaceable or unable to come off the bench if we get a better player.

Yeah, a lot needs to happen and we're at a point where simply betting on more youth isn't the answer.

This front office needs to find a way to attract some real players in free agency (not just off the bench scoring or specialists) that pair well with Cade and take the burden of the entire offense off his shoulders. He's getting overplayed and developing bad habits because of the constant pressure.

It’s hard to see today, but we really have a good young core all developing at ounce, Draymond, Curry, and Kerr talked about how it takes 4-5 years to really become a good NBA player, literally are whole roster we’ve been playing this season is on its first 4 seasons, we have all star talent all ready, we need to grab some role players that fit the PF position, build them up and play the odds, we’ll find a good that can compliment Stew, Thompson, and Duran. It’s just the time of players rising, and other teams falling. Unfortunately all the vets are not gonna be here until 15-20 games in, maybe we’re 6-14, ok so let’s we magically go 10-10 alter that into the trade deadline, we are still at 16-24 at the deadline. I’d use the vets for 20 games, trade them for early 2nd rd picks, and late 1st rd picks, and find some cheap role players up front to compliment another 3 or 3/4 at best.

This is where a lot of this board’s discussions start  Some posters expect a rookie to be a star in 2 years, otherwise they are a bust and Weaver should be fired. Instead, they should realize that this is what a full rebuild looks like.

It’s easy to be disappointed that it looks like another year in the lottery. But our cap space is good and we got a lot of good young players. A top 5 pick, hopefully a PF that can shoot, and maybe another wing that can shoot would be nice.

This team is talent deficient. IMO Cade is a #2, Ausar is the ultimate connector, and then you have a lot of question marks.

A lot of the players I'm high on in the 2024 draft kind of fill the same role as Cade (Collier, Castle). think I prefer Sarr as a modern 4/5.

2025 is where you have a good chance at getting a star. Flagg w/ Ausar would field a nasty defense for at least a decade.

The rebuild is on year 4, not 2, though ....

But how many of our young core has been here 4 years?
