meh defense has obviously been broken since week 1, better to smash washington in rose bowl to finish the year than get embarrassed in playoffs again

The only thing Ohio St. will be smashing in, will be their own heads at the end of the year.

I think Ohio State still has a legit chance (to get embarrassed in the playoffs again). Plenty of chaos still to come...

Scenario where OSU makes the playoff:

  • Notre Dame loses one of the two tough games they have remaining. They're out. (Likely)
  • Georgia loses before the SEC championship game, and then again to Alabama. They're out. (Likely)
  • Only one team comes out of the ACC. (Very likely)
  • Either Big 12 or Pac 12 champion has two losses. (Likely)
  • Ohio State wins out. (Least likely thing on this list)

Playoff teams:

  1. Bama
  2. ACC champ — say Clemson
  3. Pac 12 or Big 12 champ — say Oklahoma
  4. Ohio State
Dropped: Notre Dame, Georgia, Miami, TCU, Washington, and Wisconsin

OSU in the CFP? Are you kidding me? They got smoked at home by Oklahoma. They got torched on the road by Iowa. And they barely squeaked by Penn State at home. They've been wildly inconsistent. I will barf if they make the CFP.

Ugh. I forgot about that. Thought it would be nice for the Huskies to crush some Big Ten wannabe in the Rose Bowl if we didn't make the CFP.

538 has OSU at 10th most likely team to make the playoff, at 12%. Seems about right.

If they win out — and therefore win the conference — then they're obviously one of, say, 6 or 7 teams in the running for a playoff spot, but probably on the outside (like 2-loss Penn State last year). But if there's enough chaos in front of them — which I definitely think could happen this year — then they absolutely have a shot at top 4.

So, possible, but not probable. It's still likely that the 4 playoff teams come from the 9 Power 5 teams that still have less than 2 losses. It's also *likely* that Ohio State loses again.

two loss notre dame over two loss ohio state no doubt. not only they would have better resume but they are one of the few programs that bring in more money than osu, if things come down to that.

2 sec teams likely with the way pac12 and big10 shaping up, other spots between notre dame, oklahoma-tcu, miami-clemson and maybe wisky

It's over for Notre Dame.

If Ohio State and Alabama both win out, Ohio State is in.
  1. Just one SEC team if Alabama wins out
  2. ACC champ
  3. Oklahoma if they win out
  4. Ohio State
They beat out ACC runner up, SEC runner up, and Pac 12 champ. (Unless they look bad in the process, and somebody else — USC? Miami? — looks really really good.)
