Manningham vs Jackson vs Harvin vs Bennett

Post#1 » by ShauNx1477 » Tue Jul 31, 2007 1:38 am

I like doing comparisons, because Im starting to really get into college football. Who do you think is the best though?

DeSean Jackson - California
2006 Stats: (Sophmore Year)
REC YDS AVG LNG TD
59 1060 18.0 62 9

Mario Manningham - Michigan
2006 Stats: (Sophmore Year)
REC YDS AVG LNG TD
38 703 18.5 69 9 6

Percy Harvin - Florida
2006 Stats: (Freshman Year)
REC YDS AVG LNG TD
34 427 12.6 58 2

Earl Bennett - Vanderbilt
2006 Stats (Sophmore Year)
REC YDS AVG LNG TD
82 1146 14.0 77 6

Stat wise, Id go with Earl Bennett. But Im not to sure, but I take it Vanderbilt is in a sh*tty conferance?

Manningham comes first (best WR in college football). Then I go Harvin and Jackson because I'm not a DeSean Jackson fan. I've never watched Earl Bennett play.

Jackson, to me, will make one or two great plays during a game but you wouldn't even notice him for the rest of the game. He may have six receptions for 100 yards and you'd remember maybe one of them. Does it mean he goes a bit under the radar? Sure. But I don't really understand why he's an elite receiver because of it.

Manningham has a shot to win the Heisman, but it's a good QB class and WRs need to really separate themselves to win, so it's very much an uphill battle.

Actually.. Vanderbilt is in what is widely believed as the strongest conference in the NCAA...so putting those stats up in the SEC, is quite good

Are you kidding me? I dont get how, Bennett has the most receptions (by a long shot) yards, and touchdowns, isnt really considered that good when hes in one of the best conferances? Because his team s*cks?

But, 82 receptions in 13 games is impressive, thats 6.5 catches per game, and 88 yards per game. How isnt he the best WR?

I'm not a big Jackson guy. Kind of what PNF said--he makes one or two great plays a game, the rest of the time you don't even know he's on the field. He also does it in a system that consistently chucks out guys with numbers like that who wouldn't be close to that in other situations.

I actually watched about an hour of Earl Bennett last week, along with a couple of other rising juniors. That guy can play, period. Exceptional footwork and body control, very good hands though he doesn't always catch with them, good at getting separation across the middle. He's a future very good NFL #2 WR.

A healthy Manningham>>any collegiate WR in the last two seasons. Sort of a big if though, as he's still noticeably slowed and they play in 5 weeks.

1. Percy Harvin- The Ultimate Playmaker, not necessarily a great WR but all-around huge threat, and the most talented of this group.

2.Desean Jackson- Explosive as can be, could very well the second fastest player in college football after Trindon Holliday. Also, a great return man.

3. Mario Manningham- The big play WR, a better route runner currently then both ahead of him. Also, his knee injury wasn't very pretty.

4. Earl Bennett- Don't really think he's on the level of these first 3, not far behind, but definitely not on the same level.

You got to watch out for Desean Jackson. Very threatening espicially if Cal decides to use him for kick and punt returns. Manningham is Michigans top receiver. He is going to get his numbers, atleast a touchdown in every game this season.

1) Jackson--fastest WR in college football

2) Mario--Probably the cleanest route runner in CF and is the overall best because he is so smart/great hands ect.

3) Harvin--If reggie bush played Wide out.....

4) Bennett--Great story, any kid from Vandy getting publicity is a good thing. Might be a sleeper for WR of the year because of the career he has had
