I'm not going to pretend, I did not see this much development from JK in one season. It's incredible.

Unbelievable what an NBA player can do when he is actually allowed to stay on the court, right?

It amazes me that he had to force his way into the court via the media. Did Kerr not see this same guy in practice the last 2.5 years?

And you and I both thought Wiseman had the highest celling out his draft. Thank goodness nobody's rubbing that in trying to put themselves on a higher pedestal right?

To be fair to Kerr this isn't the same guy we drafted in 2022. He busted his arse for two years and turned himself into a monster. The growth is off the charts

Minor difference here being Bird’s native language was actually English. JK’s first language is French. English is one of the four languages he apparently speaks.

Bird’s native language was southern Indiana impoverished illiterate white trash extreme hick English which might have made him nervous about speaking to media because coastal people stigmatized Bird’s dialect of English when anybody but a celebrity speaks Southern Indiana hick English.

Holy victimhood complex Batman … he spoke English.

This statement applies to every nba player. Klay wasn't at or near his peak as a rookie, neither was the Joker, or Kobe just to name a few. It's about having the ability (and luck I suppose)to gage where their development will take them. So of course he isn't the same player. Sheesh imagine drafting two James Wisemans lol tear the whole front office down lol.

Just watched the replay, why do we always over-help and leave the guy in the corner? Never understood that. It’s very nitpicky in a 20 point win but we’ve been doing it for ages. Why help when a scrub like Roddy or Vince Jackson is driving?

Am I the only one confused how JK came out of this game with 0 blocks? He blocked gg halfway through the second on a drive and I believe he got Vince on the first or second possession. I've noticed the last few years a weird block/steals relationship and it's hard to understand what gets called when. I thought he clearly had multiple blocks yesterday but the NBA and Yahoo box scores both had 0

Some is by design. I think Atkinson prioritizes protecting the paint.

Other is lack of awareness and athleticism on the perimeter. It takes alot of effort to check down then be able to fly to the 3 pt line to contest. Wiggs and dray might be the only ones that can do that. The problem is dray is often the backline defense and wiggins is poa. So they need to cover their man, be in help position, and be able to fly out for those contests. It's basically asking your 2nd baseman and ss to also cover 1st and 3rd.

Dray and wiggs avg 3 3pt shots contested per game (bith in the top 20 this year). Steph is 3rd. Loon is 4th. Jk is 5th at 2.

By totals

Wiggins 117 in 1118 minutes.
Steph 107 in 1407 minutes
Loon 100 in 869 minutes.

No one else is even at 90.

Now ask yourself, why is it that steph and loon are the ones contesting when they are physically limited? It's because they are aware and make the attempt. That's where some bbiq comes into play. See the break and react. Others have this split second lag when processing this information, so they are a second late to contest so it's considered an open shot or simply dont react at all. ie the oubre

Hope Looney gets a break from travelling with team, he is struggling to pass the ball also.

This is the best lineup we have. Podz is sharp, defends well, moves the ball and can get his own shot.

Klay in the lineup just slows the flow, is worse defensively.

Klay needs to come off the bench.

If Draymond doesn't get suspended for being an idiot for half the season, we don't even get to see this growth. There's even people giving Kerr glowing reviews for his growth.

Podz does the little things right, I think his defense gets gross overrated at times and the team is very small on the perimeter with him and the Chef. Ideally you'd want either Moody or a new player via the trade deadline to play there. You get that mystery man with the main 4, and you have a legit shot to do damage or even win a championship.

There's also lots of instances where I notice who drives and which way they like scoring is not even taken into account. Either the guys aren't listening or the defensive coordinator is bad at his job and not addressing knowing your personnel.

There's some weird boxscore stuff going on where something that clearly looks like a block is now a steal, and vice versa. He was credited with 3 steals and 0 blocks, and that doesnt jive with what I saw. Not too pressed though - those stats are mostly meaningless

More and more and more evidence mounting that Kuminga in for Klay is the way to go

Turn CP3 or Klay into an actual 3&D SG, preferrably one with good off-ball skills, and there's all the tools there to make a run. Even more optimistic - if Kuminga can keep his efficiency around the 60 TS% range consistently, and he can return to being a consistent average or better POA defender (along with that 3&D cited above).. there's a chance the team could be more efficient than in 21-22. Literally all the pieces are there with a healthy squad, even Klay if Kerr can put him in the 15-20 minute bucket as he should

Curry is still around the same level as 21-22
Dray is still performing at the crazy high levels of the past 2 seasons
Wiggins is coming around defensively, no comment offensively
Kuminga's consistency metric and high TS since January could be sustainable, both are better than peak Klay's offensive output

Then there's Moody/Podz, who can play smart support roles... TJD/Looney who can do the same at C. GP2 as a defensive headhunter.. Kuminga's run has made it even more obvious that the team isn't anywhere near where it could be right now. The big issue still remains, but that its no one but Steve Kerr's hands

In this case, a smaller guy with so much more hustle is better than a lazy and slow Klay.

JK got screwed around. In his rookie season, Kerr let him do rim runs with a lot of lobs, just because his jumper sucks. Then last year, for whatever reason, he was forced to stand at the 3 point line to only pass or shoot 3s. That should be Klay, not JK. For whatever reason, Kerr finally let JK run to the rim again.

Development from start of the season to now is proof that Kerr and his team knows jack about player development. Warriors got lucky with injuries and suspensions and saved the stupid coach from himself.
