I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

So basically the team is happy with the current rotation and this is just effectively protecting a draft pick, and not a particularly promising one at that. But locking someone in to a 3 year min deal I guess makes it worth it? Eh I dunno.. wasnt expecting much here, but still, nothing exciting

Gay and McGruder must be super washed if they can't even win a roster spot over a bottom of the second round rookie.

It's not like the Dubs can't still sign a 15th player. If anything, I see this signing as an indication that Lacob is still willing to spend money, despite being deep into the luxury tax. Santo's minimum deal plus additional luxury tax will cost the team close to $9 million this season. If he's willing to write that check, I have no problem with it.

That plus as a rookie they can pay Santos less than a veteran minimum salary ($1.1M vs. $2M)

McGruder was only healthy enough for one practice and one game, but yeah says a lot about Gay's future prospects. Figure both will be 10 day candidates when the time comes, but I actually liked what McGruder brought. High energy guy.. isnt the sharpest spoon in the drawer but he's well rounded and high energy, he could eat some minutes if the injury bug gets to the wings

Gay though.. we didnt play him much in the PS but kept him the whole time. That looks really bad for him

Yup I think that's the majority of the appeal here - short and long term salary relief. I guess its fine.. like it seems like a smart move, and I get it, but unlike other smart moves, I'm just not excited about it at all. Maybe Gui turns out fine and its a bargain, just doesnt feel like a "win" of a move right now :dontknow:

I cant see them going to 15 until 10 days become a thing

It must be almost all non-guaranteed.

Well its definitely the cheapest option.

My only gripe is that I think Javonte or Danny Green could have provided some help this year. But we are a pretty deep team, so the 14th spot being someone that is mostly in Santa Cruz or playing garbage minutes is probably fine. Plus, I like how Gui plays. Reminds me of a unique JTA type player, only he's younger and still adjusting/developing to a new league and country so could have some serious untapped potential. He got a lot stronger/bigger and looked good in summer league.

With PBJ and Rollins gone, here's to Gui being the steal of the 2022 draft :)

What's up with Javonte Green?

They used the new second round exception which allows for a 3 yr contract instead of the minimum salary exception would have only allowed a 2 yr contract. Protection in case he actually turns into something.

He's still with the Santa Cruz team. Seems like he's going to use the G-League to try and showcase he's healthy again to NBA teams.

So we did lock him into SC? Thats great.. GP2's style is very prone to injury, so having a true GP2 backup in our back pocket is a great thing. Maybe he's a potential 10 day as well, or roster filler if a trade is made

Does that mean the contract is fully gtd? Or can it be partially gtd/fully non-gtd?

Just saw it was answered

cost saving move. I don't expect him to play at all and there's already a minutes crunch but damn quite underwhelming.
