Ravens Notes from August 7th against the Patriots

* Harbaugh got a look at the quarterbacks competing for the starting position. Kyle Boller (11-of-15, 102 yards, 1 INT, 1 FUM) started for Baltimore, Troy Smith (5-of-12, 74 yards) replaced him and both played decently. First-round draft pick Joe Flacco (0-of-3) looked like a rookie, losing a fumble on his second play.

* The Ravens held New England to 85 total yards in the first half. Baltimore's “D” only permitted 49 passing yards and 36 rushing yards.

* The Ravens posted 3 QB sacks in the first half. Nick Greisen and Dwan Edwards each produced a sack, while the 3rd QB drop was credited as a team sack.

* Baltimore piled up 151 total yards of offense in the first half (131 passing and 20 rushing).

Watch what? This is the gamethread for our 2nd preseason game.

I did watch the 1st, though. Is that what you're talking about?

Apparently, I remain unaware of the exact definition of "this". But yeah, I was wondering if anyone caught the last game, as I missed it due to the usual complicatons of "not having the right channels".

Heh, yeah I caught it.

Boller started the first quarter and a half (if my memory serves me right) and was his usual Boller-self. Started out decent, completing his first few passes (with good protection) then crumbled, turning it over twice.

Smith took over for Kyle and was alright. He didn't turn it over (IIRC) and had a few nice passes and runs. Some of his passes should have been caught and were just thrown beautifully but weren't caught.

Flacco finished the game (played the last 8 or 9 minutes) and was awful. I mean brutal. No positive signs. Nothing. I believe he had one or two fumbles, a boat-load of passes that were just nowhere near the receiver. Just horrible. On the bright side, there's nowhere to go but up.

We did manage to pull off a 16-15 win though.
