Bears @ Broncos 3:25pm Sunday

Post#1 » by transplant » Sat Sep 14, 2019 7:55 pm

No game thread? Fixed.

Both teams 0-1. Lots of talk about how going 0-2 spells doom for making the playoffs. Also lots of talk about how the Broncos are like 1000-0 in September home games. The media's all over the fact that Miller and Chubb had off games against the Raiders and are going to be loaded for Bear (pun intended). The same media doesn't seem to think that the Bears offense should have any bounceback. Fangio knows the Bears offense inside out. Apparently, this advantage isn't balanced by Nagy's knowledge of Fangio's defense. Fine.

If you believe what you saw against the Packers, and it was exceedingly painful, you would have to say that, not only has Trubisky regressed, but so has Nagy as a playcaller (and all the offseason talk was about defensive regression, yeesh). Believe it if you want.

As I see it, here's the key point. The Bears are a very good team. The Broncos are, at best, average. We all know that this doesn't guarantee victory, but the Bears ought to win this one.

If Mitch leads Cohen better there it’s a touchdown.

Mitch is not the guy. So close but Pace missed on QB and TE. Mitch has too little exp like Sanchez. No one should draft a QB with so few games under his belt with low level competition ever again.

It was better than a loss. Beyond that I can't say much for the performance.

Mitch's issues aside, the offensive line needs to be better. The run blocking hasn't been very smooth overall. Whiteheir and Daniel switch is likely the reason, so hopefully those guys figure it out. Long also needs to be better too.

Not sure how long you have to wait before you at least switch Whiteheir and Daniel back.

As good as Pace has been lately, failing the biggest of questions (wrong QB drafted) its like swimming in a beautiful pool with a fat turd floating in it. Nobody wants to be in that pool. Its a franchise killer mistake, given the investment they made.

Briggs, Forte, Olin and AB were just pointing out that the Bears are not physically built to run the ball. No fullback, Burton cant block, they dont have the personally to be run oriented. All they can do is try play action and hop Mitch can learn to manage to play a limited short passing game in that. But defenses right now are boxing up front, and keeping Mitch in the pocket. Olin was very concerned the Bears cannot stretch the field going forward with Mitch, and cant play as a run oriented offense.

Both of your responses points to critical errors by Pace. Justifiably punishable by termination.

When RB's are getting hit in the backfield or at the line of scrimmage you have to blame the O Line. The run blocking hasn't been very good. Mitch hasn't been getting sacked much so the O Line's problems in the pass protection hasn't been noticable but you have to wonder if Mitch isn't attempting alot of passes down the field because he doesn't trust the line to give him a lot of time in the pocket.

Nagy and Mitch both look awful.

If Mitch is Alex Smith good with this D and Special Teams we win the SB. That’s just how good they are.

Still feel like Nagy is playing not to lose w Mitch.

Still, Mitch did get the team down the field in position for Pineiro to win it with a 53-yarder.

We'd like to see better, we'd like to see a game NOT come down to a last-minute drive, but Mitch did well enough when it counted.

In week 1 he threw an INT

That's because Mitch hasn't given Nagy confidence in tight games to let him loose. Bears have been lucky as hell that more of his passes haven't been picked off.
