Crosstown Rival Tracking Thread (Sox 10-8)

Post#1 » by SportsWorld » Fri Apr 13, 2007 9:15 pm

This is the thread to discuss our crosstown rivals the Chicago White Sox.
This isn't a thread to bash their team or fans nor is it a game thread it is just a thread to track the "other Chicago team" to see who gets the Pride Of Chicago.

Sox at Indians tonight.

As much as I hate Ozzie Guillen I love how he believes Grady Sizemore is Babe Ruth.. Sizemore is a huge Sox killer and one of my favorite players just because of that.

I think the Sox will finish 3rd or 4th in that division this year.. That division is stacked.

This thread is pointless. Why do we care about the Sox? Their fans are going to have a field day with this one, and for good reason. Just showing that the stereotype that the Cubs fans care more about the Sox losing than the Cubs winning.

I have nothing against the Sox. They're not in the NL, so why bother worrying about them?

What fans?
Most Chicagoans are Cubs fans.
And I want to get a better record than the Sox so I don't have to listen to all my Sox co-workers (2 of them).

I don't want to sound like a basher, but I find that this is the major difference between a Cubs and a Sox fan. From the people I know and have seen, the Sox fans seem to care just as much about the Cubs losing as they do about the Sox winning. I find this odd becuase they play in opposite leagues and only play 6 games a year. The majority of Cubs fans I know just ignore the word "Sox" when it comes up. They find Sox fans annoying.

I have to completely disagree with you. I personally know many Sox fans and whenever the Cubs lose, they rub it in my face. When I mention that the Sox won the same night, they don't seem to care as much.

It can go both ways. I have Sox fan friends who don't really care much about the Cubs, but there are a select few that like to laugh at us when we lose. However, a good majority of the Cub fan friends that I have absolutely despise the Sox and seem to care just as much about the Sox losing as the Cubs winning.

I guess it just depends on who you hang out with :-?

Sorry Sportsworld, but I also have to take the opinion that it is a bit silly to have a White Sox tracking thread on this board. I mean I am not for or against the White Sox. I wish them well during the season except for when they play us. Having a thread like this here just doesn't feel right. I also agree with Flames24Rulz that this is just going to give ammo to Sox fans who want to post here.

But hey... if others want it... so be it.

I think it's fine for now. I admit to somewhat keeping tabs on my rival teams in all sports and the Cubs and Sox are linked more closely than most. If it becomes a problem or just ends up being a place for Sox and Cubs fans to yell at each other, then it'll be closed.
