The Official bench Jeff Weaver Thread

Post#1 » by Beam Me Up Foxy » Sun Apr 29, 2007 4:15 am

What should we do with this guy people? Should we put him in the bullpen or send him down to the minors? I really wish we wouldn't have spent so much money to get him but something has got to be done. He is getting shelled out there.

Thoughts? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

We should go back in time and stop his signing before it ever happened.

Seriously, we're not gonna win a single start with him on the mound.

Put him in the pen and see if he can contribute in a situation where, maybe, he can throw harder and amp up the fastball in a lighter amount of innings. I'd rather see if we can get something out of him somehow before cutting bait.

There's actually other, more appropriate verbs that can probably go there...but the automatic censor will probably catch half of them.

I never understood his signing from the beginning. I logged online one day and see that we signed Jeff Weaver to like 8 mil a year, and I was like "WHOOAA....wait, that Jeff Weaver? WTF?"

He had a few good games in the World Series. He's sucked all other times. What a waste of money.

He wont make another start for a while. I guarantee it.

Jered Weaver. Talk about a younger sibling with nothing to be jealous of.

^^ that's funny in my book, but then again, I also thought that the GM commercial where the robot attempted suicide was funny. Turns out some other people disagreed....

I'm sure they'll put him out there for at least one more ass whooping, then they'll make up an injury, put him on the DL, bring him back in a couple weeks, and allow him to get his ass kicked once again.

Bad news: The M's just signed that damn robot to an $8.5 million contract to replace Jeff Weaver...

I'm fine with giving him one more start. Ultimately, I doubt it changes much, but with the passing of Josh Hancock he's no doubt had a tough week...give him another start, see if he can prove himself against a tough Yankees lineup. If he can, great...if not, that can be fixed...

Some stats, just for fun:

M's pitching staff this year: 185 IP, 97 ER, 4.72 ERA - 11th in AL

M's pitching staff, not counting Weaver: 173 2/3 IP, 74 ER, 3.83 ERA - would be 4th in the AL

Not to mention, we're 11-6 in games not started by Weaver. That's a .647 winning percentage, which would be tops in the division, 2nd best in the AL, third best in the majors.

How about if we call this the "why wasn't Weaver in the car instead of Hancock" thread?

What...we're 11th in the AL in pitching even WITH that sad sack Weaver on the mound??

Eventually, Baek will replace Weaver in the rotation. Isn't Weaver's next start vs NYY? That should be his last start. He only has one more chance.

One more loss before he is done. We can handle that.

I'd go, just to boo, but I have too much stuff to do this weekend. I'm afraid I won't make it to any of the games.

Anyway, I think I can count on Yankees fans to do plenty of Weaver-taunting. I don't think they need me for this.
