Where will Bonds play next year?

Post#1 » by Posey H8er » Sun Aug 12, 2007 3:18 pm

I personally think he would be great with a year with the Yankees. As a DH, he can get much rest, and the left and right field lines are a lot shorter than his home in San Francisco to get home runs. Plus, the Yankees will not worry about giving him a large contract.

.
Don't be too quick to say that he won't be in a Giants uniform. Though no fault of Bonds, aside the young pitching staff, the Giants are terrible. Without Bonds for the fans to watch, people are going to leave in droves. With Bonds they can rebuild and pay the bills with the interest in Bonds continued HR record additions and his countdown to 3000 hits.

One move that makes since is not to just let him go at the seasons end but re-sign him for next year or even a two year deal with a trade clause. Then, allow him to get his 3000 hits, which should be accomplished before next years trade deadline. At this time he would have decent value as trade bait to a to a AL team looking for short term power for a playoff push. This way the Giants get something for him and Bonds gets what he wants, another chance for a ring.

To those thinking that he would not be wanted or received as a Yankee. Jason Giambi is making 23.4 million this year. Think on that for a bit!

As a Yankee fan I sure as hell hope Bond's not in pinstripes next year. Keep him as far away from NY as possible!

The Yankees like their steroid users.
Jason Giambi
Gary Sheffield
Keep naming them...

I don't know if Bonds will play next year but I do know that Ryan Braun will play next year 8)

I have no idea why Oakland wouldn't try and get him to DH, may be the only other place he could play without being hated by his own fans.

the vast majority of A's fans abslolutely hate bonds. also, the a's have cust. but i would be more than in favor of moving him to right for bonds.

its a pipedream though.

I say the Angels. Him and Vlad batting next to each other could be lethal.

With the Angels having money to spend and need of power, Bonds is the perfect fit.

I say Detroit because they have a great pitching staff, good bullpen, and Bonds used to play for Jim Leyland. Also I think Sheffield is a free agent. Even if he isn't, Sheffield playing LF with Maglio @ RF and Bonds @ DH is very dangerous.

I mean imagine
Granderson
Polancio
Bonds
Sheffield
Maglio
Pudge
Casey
Guillen
Inge

Why in God's name would the Yankees even look at Bonds?

Because the Yankee's may want to upgrade their current DH. Here are some #'s for your comparison. Other factors would come in to play, yes. Do i think he will be a Yankee next year, No. But to answer your question and with the history of the boss in paying for big star names... take a look.

----------G .. AB.. R.. H. HR. RBI .BB. SO. OBP. SLG. OPS. AVG. .Salary
Giambi . 51. 163 22 44 9. 26. .26. 36 .381 .466 .847 ..270.. 23.4 million
Bonds. 105.282 66 78 25 57...120 47 .495 .589 1.084 .280 15.5 million

Also, unlike Bonds, Giambi actually has admitted useing Steroids.
