Post#1 » by kellmellus50 » Sun Sep 2, 2012 2:00 pm

This game is much more exciting than the first game.
S.F will give the lions fits. They both should be 1-0 after the first game.

Sunday nite will be a national T.V. a must see game.

Well the Rams still have Sam Bradford who is a young hotshot arm. It's always possible he could make it exciting by torching our secondary for 400 yards. lol

Well we probably will win, but an 8 pt favorite means probably about a 70% chance to win or thereabouts. So if the new Piston Andre Drummond were to step up to the free throw line, he would represent the odds of us winning. If he misses it we win, if he makes it the Rams win. He had a 29.5% FT rate in college so that's a fair measure. I wouldn't want to lock it in the bank because he still makes the shot almost 1 out of 3 times.

For next time, we probably don't need to make game threads more than one in advance. It isn't a big deal, but just isn't necessary. Thanks

^ Of the first 9 games the lions play ,they play 6 away games.
This is going to be a tough start for the lions to come out on top. Who ever made this schedule really put the screws to the lions.

Stafford has to stay away from early INT's he has been doing it a lot during the years .It's like he is not warmed up so he throw INT's.

Detroit Lions injury report: Bailey concussion adds to secondary's problems
Bentley’s brain injury doesn’t appear to be serious—he returned to the locker room briefly and finished watching the game from the sideline, apparently in violation of the Madden Rule—but as coach Jim Schwartz has said routinely, there’s no way to put a timetable on that type of ailment.

The Lions were one of nine teams to hold their opponent under 200 net yards passing and finished Week 1 having given up the second-fewest total yards in the league

Serious concern about our RB situation. Kevin Smith has trouble remaining healthy and going against this hard hitting LB core of the Niners isn't going to help, good news is leshoure comes back week after but still concern

Well there is no rule that says you can't throw the ball 100% of the time and play without any RB, so even the worst case scenario isn't that bad. I wouldn't mind seeing a team try to stop us from an uber-passing attack, we'd probably just have an easier time winning ironically lol! :)

Bentley and Houston are both out, Delmas is very doubtful. Not good for the secondary.

This is a week where I wouldn't mind the Lions not running the ball. Nobody runs on that defensive front and the weak point of the team is their secondary. Put the ball in the hands of Matt Stafford and hope the Lions D plays strong.

Unless they get an injury or two, they don't have much of a quantity of a front 7 and we can find an advantage if they were to have a depth problem. They have only 7 DLs and 7 LBs on the roster. I'm hoping their inactive list has any front-7 players on it. They had one DL inactive last week so I was hoping maybe their RBs are healthy and others and maybe we can hope that 2 front-7 players go inactive. 12 guys to cover 7 spots could get dangerously thin. In contrast, the Lions had 15 front-7 players active last week.

I would like nothing more than to beat Harbaugh and the 49ers. It seems the media and all love that team. We need to shut them down. This could be a great statement game for the Lions.

No matter what the result is, I think we are going to find out what we are really made of. I'm expecting a blowout one way or another as one of these teams is going to make a big positive statement. Huge primetime night game with the 2 teams in the NFC that have the most overall player talent. Although we have more injuries, but we also have CJ.

Wasn't pleased with the game bu wasn't surprised either. Lions did some things well. I thought the DL was good. I thought Jeff Backus had his best game in years. I liked the offensive gameplan, honestly I did. SF is just really good and the Lions aren't quite skilled enough to win games like this when the opponent doesn't give it away. Tip your hat to them and move on.

I thought the Lions coverage was suspect being WR's were way too open while Alex Smith was way too sharp. Nonetheless, this is the 2nd game of the season and this team still has time to gel. They still were capable of winning this game with a little more consistency. I am disappointed, but still excited to how the season will play out.
