Tennessee receivers Justin Hunter and Cordarrelle Patterson and USC’s Robert Woods already have made it to Allen Park.

They’re looking for a No. 2 receiver to pair with Calvin Johnson.

Hopkins or Hunter would be my top 2 guys to target in Rd 2. (if they're there of course)

Woods would be fine. Patterson won't fall past about 23. Justin Hunter = HUGE mistake. Dropped 12% of the throws his way last year, dogged it on routes, plays like a wuss.

The Detroit Lions will host another wide receiver for a pre-draft visit, bringing in electric West Virginia prospect Tavon Austin next week according to Chris Steuber of OurLads.com

I wonder if we are contemplating trading down in the 1st round.....guys like Patterson or Austin won't be available for us in the 2nd - not even close....

We aren't taking a WR, we have more pressing needs, if we trade down, it'll probably be for lane johnson

I don't hate the idea of taking him, but I wouldn't go any sooner than the fifth, I have a hard time seeing him staying healthy.

i don't think there's really a concern about him staying healthy but moreso what kind of football player he is. WR? RB? ST? CB? S?

That is the case with Austin. If DET can slide back a few spots he is absolutely in play. Brings Tank Carradine and Bjoern Werner into the mix too.

if we were to trade down, would it be for Lane johnson? whats the order of importance? it seems the lions intend to go OL or DL in the first round , are S and WR in the mix?

Have it on pretty good authority that the Lions are not that high on Lane Johnson. I'm not either. Solid 15-25 overall prospect but not ready at all to play LT right away. Technique issues for a guy with no time to have learned poor technique is troubling. Ansah, Werner, Solder all were late to their craft and never learned poor techniques but Johnson is too narrow and doesn't punch with his core strength behind it. Correctable but having to correct them with a positional newb is frustrating, never should have developed those poor habits

visited or worked out privately for the Lions, or who reportedly have visits scheduled.

RB – Onterio McCalebb

WR – Justin Hunter, Cordarrelle Patterson, Robert Woods, Tavon Austin#

TE – Michael Williams, Dion Sims

OL – Eric Fisher, Brennan Williams*

DE – Will Gholston, Dion Jordan

LB – Jarvis Jones#

CB – David Amerson, Dee Milliner

as you can see the lions are going after Wide recievers and will target them early.

Ice and others:

I think it's pretty clear that Fisher or Ansah are the two big targets for us (and Joeckel but I think he's the #1 pick). What happens if worst case scenario plays out and both guys are gone by our pick?

Do we go Milliner? Dion Jordan? Trade back?

i think we trade down. Millner would be nice, but it probably be better to trade it.

If Ansah and Fisher are gone, I think they would try like all hell to move back but if they can't, I'd say Dion Jordan would be at the top of their list.
