Well, Beckett didn't give up any gopher balls last night

It was good to see him throwing more curveballs, especially since he was having trouble with it earlier on. If he keeps that up I think you'll see the Josh Beckett that we thought they traded for in the first place.

I'm pissed that I can't Matsuzaka today though! What's the big idea of putting one of the most hyped up starts in a long time on a friggin DAY GAME??!??

I'm pissed you can't either. We could use the back-end rotation help.

I thought Beckett was decent. His control was terrible but his changeup was significantly better than it was any game last year and his curveball was dominant at times (read: 5th inning) despite the cold conditions leading to inconsistency with that curve. He did a very good job of mixing up his pitches and if he does that this season and has control better than yesterday (this part is the given); he should have a good year.

Even though it was cold out, i was happy that Beckett kept going to to the curveball, even though he was struggling with it.
