John Jerry - OG is our 3rd round pick. Man was this draft hard to predict with the Trifecta...
I guess Smiley is on his way out for a 3rd day pick?

I'm not sure about the Masi OLB pick. If they wanted a pass rusher, why not Kindle? I understand the first pick now, with Starks being moved to NT(I'm not sure about the move, I loved him last year @ DE). You can never have enough OL, so the Jerry pick is fine with me. Hopefully we trade Smiley and a 7th to get into the 4th or 5th round. We need a TE/FS/RB/LB

I am disappointed in this draft.

In the first i thought we should of picked Hughes, we picked Odrick.. i can deal with
In the second we pick Misi, with Kindle, Spikes and Washington.. I dislike that.
In the third we pick John Jerry, Instead of going with Major Wright. I mean if we were gonna go OL why not Bruce Campbell? Take someone w first round ability, who has obviously slipped. Just baffling.

Here's what we have left to choose from: http://www.draftcountdown.com/Results/Best-Day-Three.php

More aerial firepower with Pitta or Hernandez?

Double down on LB with Griffin, Sapp, or Norwood?

Add a return specialist extraordinaire with Ford?

Clog up the middle with C. Thomas or Atkins?

Take a 7th round flier on talented-but-troublemaking M. Williams?

I really don't know how we can second guess the trifecta here. And believe me, I share your head scratching on Misi. I just think they've earned the benefit of the doubt at this point.

I believe in this FO. I honestly believe that we'll see significant contributions from Odrick, Misi, and Jerry this season, and that they'll all probably start.

If I'm the trifecta at this point, I'm making a real push for Hamlin, Sharper, or Atogwe and just drafting the best player available today. Get another linebacker and a good tight end, maybe a corner and a receiver.

I wouldn't count on the second day picks to start though...

Id gladly take Williams. dude has serious talent, and if anyone can get him to focus its gotta be the Trinity, he could be another Brandon Marshall type Wide out

I still am hoping for Myron Rolle- Actually i really want Rolle/ Besides that, after watching players i wanted get looked over I am not getting my hopes up for anyone else

It's pretty much like that every year here. We will probably draft some unheard of nose tackle next followed by a safety nobody has heard of either.

This is getting stupid now. All the players we as a fan base like are going. Williams, Ford, etc. If we land Myron Rolle all will be forgiven.

A.J. Edds with our fourth round pick??? Anyone know this kid? I saw a little of him against PSU last season. Here is the analysis. Miami really looking to lock up the linebacker spots and rightfully so because last years core was awful.

A.J. Edds
Analysis
Read & React: Recognizes play-action and misdirection and gets to the flat in a hurry to cover screens. Seems to run routes for tight ends and running backs. Very good reacting to the ball whether lined up at the nine-technique or in the stack.

Run defense: Gives little ground against linemen and tight end blocks on the edge. Keeps containment on his side of the field to make a tackle or funnel plays inside. Can punch and rip off consistently to make plays. Throws his shoulder into fullback in the hole but doesn't always anchor well. Chases plays across the field, taking good angles to the ball. Must use his hands consistently to protect his legs from cut blocks. Does not always break down in space and lacks the change-of-direction skills to compensate against elusive backs.

Pass defense: The former tight end is agile in coverage, and covers receivers and tight ends the flat very well. Can get deep or attack to the sideline. Runs with most tight ends down the seam and reads their eyes to turn and look for the ball. Reacts quickly to throws in his area. Able to knock passes away before or after the receiver gets his hands on the ball. Very good hands for the interception.

Tackling: Strong wrap-up tackler in the open field and around the line of scrimmage. His size and length means few missed tackles, as well as having the ability to chase down backs from behind. Brings hips to stop ballcarriers in a hurry when heads-up.

Pass Rush/Blitz: Stacks up tackles and tight ends on the edge, and will still come after the quarterback if sent or the signal caller is looking deep downfield. Will defeat running back blocks with his hands and strength. Won't miss the sack or quarterback hit once in position. Lacks great pass-rush moves or the speed to turn the corner against better tackles.

Intangibles: Major contributor since his redshirt freshman season and a leader on the defense the past two years -- by actions more than words. Solid character and weight-room work ethic.

NFL Comparison: Ben Leber, Chargers

Overall I like the pick once again. He should make a name for himself in Miami right away. Trust in the trifecta depsite my own frustration towards us not taking big name college players.

Edds is the steal of the first round. I think he will start for us in his rookie season. Great pick by Parcells and co.

Traded up for A.J. Edds. From all accounts he's a smart and instinctive LB that, while unspectacular, rarely makes boneheaded mistakes and knows how to always be in and around the action...sounds good to me. And best yet, he's apparently capable of dropping back into coverage and shadowing TEs.

I'm content.

Nolan Carroll CB, Maryland.

He can return punts and kickoffs, I'm guessing?

I feel like Wake gets the OLB spot this year, with Misi coming in on running downs and some blitz packages. Starks being moved to NT makes sense, now I completely understand the Ordrick pick. We need a FS/TE now.

If we don't sign or trade for a safety I think Jones gets a shot at starting along with Clemons as his competition. Jones could also be possibly a replacement for Yeremiah Bell. Who knows. I'd like us to get atleast a running back or reciever before this draft is over. Looks like we wait till the seventh round to do so. Johnathon Dwyer and Lagerret Blount are still out there. Dezmon Briscoe is still out there at WR.

i do like the Jones pick! I still hope for Myron Rolle but I am doubtful now. :(

I'd like to get him in the 7th, as well as Stafon Johnson as a back if we are gonna grab a back. However i really like that Reshad Jones selection. I was rather happy to hear they grabbed him

All our picks save one were spent on defense. With how porous our defense was last year, I can't argue with this approach. The offense is still has a lot of work to do (more electricity at TE and more youth at RB would've been welcomed) but we can't move forward until we stop giving up the homerun plays.

My assessment of this draft is that our front office wanted to play things safe and solid. "Low risk, low reward" would be too harsh of course, so it's probably more like "low risk, SOME reward." They seemed less concerned with knocking picks out of the park and more concerned with getting on base with as many at-bats as possible...and I can't fault them for that. They've already stuck their necks out a lot this offseason with paying so much money to Dansby and Marshall, so now it's time to be a little more conservative.

With the exception of the CB Carroll, all of our picks are big and strong. They're the kind of players that, even if they don't pan out as well as planned, have the kind of size to at least do something, be it fall on someone or block someone or hit someone or get in someone's way. They had their fun with the White pick last year (and even knowing what we know now, it's still a move that I don't necessarily disagree with) so they went conventional this year. Not sexy, but serviceable.

I count as many as three potential Week 1 starters (Odrick, Misi, Jerry), with at least an outside chance of a fourth (Jones). That's pretty decent.
