I would guess it's going to take a few months to resolve.

Guess not. And he'll probably be out a long time.

sigh, i'm betting the backlash of letting him play (there seemed a fair amount of it locally anyway) changed their minds. its probably for the best, keep him away from the team while he resolves it - remove the distraction

next court date is 10/8, there is a chance he can negotiate an earlier decision or something

Once the governor weighed in, it was over. There was just too much pressure.
It's somewhat strange to me, we're not really that far removed from a time players didn't get suspended at all for legal issues. Now Roger Goodell's job is jeopardy for not giving long enough suspensions.

Can't imagine how bad the saints game is going to be. No idea why Asiata is starter, McKinnon brings so much more to the table.

I think Peterson is done as a Viking before long. This all just really bad and we were probably going to move him after this season anyone because of contract reasons so yea, I think its over. A lot of fans want his head now too. A sad end.

i don't think they would have moved him next offseason (who would take him?) but this does change everything - its all up in the air now

That would be quite the travesty.

I agree, I think this is the end-unfortunately. I was going to say to bad he has no trade value now, but he really didn't before because of his contract. Cheers to another mediocre season with Cassel at the helm.

The way the climate is right now, you wonder if he'll ever be able to comeback without some type of outrage.

i think if he sincerely expresses that he's sorry and serves whatever punishment then people might forgive him

(now this is a different situation but it kind of relates) people thought vick should never come back and there might have been some people mad that he's still playing but most people (i don't think) made that big a fuss when he came back

We could always draft Todd Gurley if Peterson doesn't come back. Just an idea

Gurley is really good, but I'm not hung up on the idea drafting running back high just to replace Peterson. I'd rather change our identity to a pass first team.

This actually makes the most sense. It's possible that Gurley or other good running backs can be found from rounds 2-5. Drafting them in the first is risky business. Anyways, we could use that cornerback from Oregon.
Plus, pass first teams are where it's at.

What's crazy is that this may destroy Peterson's career flat out. He is probably done for the season unless some court resolution happens really quickly. After its over a lot of teams wont want to touch him and a team that does wont give him nearly the kind of money he will want. Basically wasted one of the last years of his prime and now his chance at hitting some of those records has been severely dashed. This has all cost him dearly.

His best shot at salvaging something is to realize he made terrible mistakes, cooper operate in any way, do what he has to do to get better and steadfastly work to improve himself and his image. If it looks like he totally has put them behind him and he still has some juice left down the line it could make a for a nice redemption story that his new fans will be able to get behind.

Ya it's crazy to think he was a lock for hall of fame and now we aren't so sure. It's all still so surreal.

AP's trial is set to begin Dec. 1, that means this should be over before the end of the season. Whether that means he'll play this season, I don't know.
