alright, let's just move on - the sun will come out next year right?
2019 season discussion
so, the vikings had a good year - won ten games, made the playoffs and won a game
but they left a lot on the table, some divisional loses that really killed playoff seeding
middle portion of the season looked like the offense had finally figured it out and was running at the kind of effeciency we've been wanting for a while. but too many other times it wasn't working and when it wasn't working it was really ugly
the defense seemed to take a step back this year. still a really good unit but maybe not near the top of the league anymore. a lot of the decline seemed to be with the cornerbacks where wholesale change might be needed.
draft
i think we have the 25th pick for the draft
currently have 7 draft picks, two 7th rounders and no fifth round pick (traded away for that ravens kicker ), the rest appear to be the 25th slot in each of the remaining rounds.
free agency
probably will be a lot of action here
we're already over the cap by almost $5m
could be the end of the defense largely retaining the same parts for the last 5ish years
free agents:
everson griffen (team option)
trae waynes
anthony harris
rashod hill
andrew sendejo
mackensie alexander
dan bailey
britton colquitt
sean mannion
dakota dozier
ameer abdullah
brett jones
laquon treadwell
cj ham (restricted)
kentrell brothers
david morgan
jayron kearse
stephen weatherly
eric wilson (restricted)
marcus sherels

2020 schedule
home/away with the division: lions, bears, and packers..oh my!
we get the nfc south next year: falcons/panthers at home, saints/bucs on the road (at least now we know we can win in new orleans!)
cowboys (home) and seahawks (road) are the other nfc division opponents - how is it possible we've played the seahawks in seattle for three years in a row???
and we get the afc south next year: jags/titans at home, texans/colts on the road
future
spielman, zimmer, and cousins all have one year left on their contracts. doesn't seem to be any indication, at least right now, that renegotiation is taking place or will take place soon (before the season starts). so next year is shaping up to be a pretty big make or break year for the whole team. could be a lot of changes this off-season but if next year doesn't meet the owners expectations the 2021 off-season could be a complete overhaul
so, what are the vikings needs? what positions have to be addressed? who should they draft, sign, cut, etc?
