Pacers vs. Hornets 11/4

Post#1 » by boomershadow » Sat Nov 4, 2023 9:08 pm

The Hornets will be well-rested for Saturday's contest. Charlotte last played on Wednesday in Houston and has been in Indianapolis since Thursday, practicing at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday.

Charlotte is looking for its first win since its season opener. The Hornets won 116-110 over Atlanta on Oct. 25, but have dropped three straight games since then.

Terry Rozier is currently leading the Hornets in scoring, averaging 22 points per game. Point guard LaMelo Ball, who was an All-Star in 2022 but only played in 36 games last season due to injury, is back on the court and averaging 15.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 8 assists.

Pacers play Hornets tonight. Colts play Panthers tomorrow.

This game went crazy bad when starting lineup was rested. Hornets very aggressive on the boards and getting too many points in the paint. Pacers shooting 33% and Hornets 50%. Both teams not hitting 3’s.

Hield 1-7
Nembhard1-4
Brown 1-4
Nesmith 0-4
McConnell 0-2
Mathurin 3-10

I was thinking same thing for next year if they can afford him. Not on timeline but veteran presence and having a great start to this season.

Not sure what you call that finish, but a missed free throw by Hield, bad pass by Haliburton to turn it over, then Haliburton dribbles off his leg to seal the loss. :banghead:

Can’t lose games to lesser teams at home and expect to be a playoff team.

That was frustrating. Points in the paint and free throws.

Next up 2 home games vs. Spurs and Jazz. After that Bucks here then 2 in Philly. I’m going to say the first 2 games are must wins as the next 3 will be tough to win.

If we don’t start winning against rebuilding teams it’s going to feel like Wacko is right on his treadmill team assessment.

Mathurin 3-11 and Nembhard 3-9 definitely disappointing me so far.

If Hornets can stay healthy they are more talented than us. Williams absolutely destroyed Turner. Couple the physical advantage Williams has on Turner with the size of their forwards and that’s a problem. I like Hali more than Ball but, that looks like the only advantage if you set our starters against theirs.

We need a David West type free agent signing this summer.

Haliburton needs a 2nd star.

I know it's early still, but I don't think Mathurin is it. I've felt that way since the draft, so I'm waiting for him to change my mind. Hasn't happened. Is there a world where he can be a star? Yes, but I still am afraid he's gonna end up a microwave scorer off the bench for most of his career, at least on any really good team. He still looks like his only + skill is getting to the FT line. He's a better passer though, so that's something at least.

This has to priority 1 for the front office. I'm not gonna beat the dead horse about last year, but I'm still afraid that WAS the chance.
