LB spots "wide open"

Post#1 » by Sixerlover » Wed Apr 4, 2007 10:58 pm

Coach Andy Reid said all three starting linebacker spots on the Eagles are "wide open."

He also said he wanted Jeremiah Trotter playing 15% fewer snaps. Takeo Spikes is likely to get another starting job, with Omar Gaither, Dedrick Roper and Chris Gocong also in the mix.

I'd be very surprised if Gaither doesn't get the spot. Unless somebody else is brought in.

Trotter and Spikes seem like sure bets, no? Also, whatever happened to Dhani Jones? I imagine he'd be in the running.

I just found out about the Walker/Spikes trade. I've been living under a rock, it seems. ***WOW*** - love this for the Eagles.

I really like the idea of trying to keep Trotter fresh by reducing his snaps. He wore down last year. His knees are just pretty bad at this point, but he is still a warrior.

It should be Spikes, Trotter, and Gaither. I liked the way Gaither played last season when he was given the starting job. It is a no-brainer to start him unless someone else comes out and plays better than Gaither. Trotter and Spike are locks.

The only one I see as a lock is Spikes. If Gaither and Cocong or McCoy play really well Trotter may see really a lot less playing time because of his knees and his play against the pass.

Torrence Daniels needs to get some more playing time. That guy went to college with me and he's a freaking beast. If you watch the special teams he is always the guy that lays a big hit on the return man
